Overview
The Annual Giving Manager plays a critical role in the acquisition and retention of Annual Fund donors by overseeing NYU Loyal and Student Loyal and by playing a key role in digital content development by writing email copy and setting up emails in distribution platform according to sophisticated segmentation strategies. The candidate is responsible for participation-level and student-level stewardship as well as managing critical, foundational, digital content. Through innovative outreach, customer service, strategic analysis, and day-to-day oversight of stewardship projects and digital content development, this position will be essential to ensuring a strong pipeline of Annual Fund donors for future cultivation. This is a crucial role in strengthening the digital donor experience. The Annual Giving Manager will divide their time in these areas: • Administering NYU Loyal and Student Loyal • Digital content development and execution – primarily for email communications • Manage all aspects of NYU Loyal, including acquisition and retention strategies, solicitations, communications, web presence, calendars, and stewardship to recognize and help to improve relationships with donors and database quality • Oversee and improve the retention of consecutive, Loyal donors in NYU Loyal, launch Student Loyal, and grow the current NYU Loyal program to increase membership and to increase awareness of program and philanthropy at NYU • Create reports and analytics for NYU Loyal and retention and to provide recommendations for areas of improvement • Partner with student philanthropy program, leadership volunteer program, Alumni Relations, and other members of UDAR to build a pipeline from Student Loyal, YALC, NYU Loyal, Loyal Leaders and beyond • Provide customer service for annual giving donors (phone and email) • Write email copy and set up emails in email platform for distribution. This includes writing emails for NYU Loyal, Student Loyal, impact newsletters, and annual giving outreach. This requires tailoring messaging for alumni and friends of the University • Research, identify, and connect with appeal signatories and liaise with schools on school-specific content • Support Assistant Director, Digital Initiatives in executing email strategy and email campaigns for annual giving solicitations and donor stewardship • Partner with Alumni Relations and departments across the University to collect content and donor stories for annual giving communications
Responsibilities
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree with related coursework in project management, marketing, and writing
Required Experience: 2+ years in Development or Alumni Relations or Stewardship for a large institution. Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects with tight deadlines
Preferred Experience: 2+ years strong proficiency in writing. Strong experience in the development of engaging print and digital marketing materials. Able to manage multiple projects in a deadline-oriented environment
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: • Excellent writing, editing, proofing, and communications skills. Writing sample required • Strong project management skills, with a proven ability to manage competing deadlines and prioritize workload, follow up in a timely manner on projects, and keep supervisor informed • Interface with senior colleagues to resolve donor requests • Strong customer-service orientation and experience working with high-net-worth donors • Extraordinary attention to detail at all times • Knowledge of principles of fundraising in higher education • Good judgment and must have ability to treat confidential information with discretion • Strong Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel skills, knowledge of Sungard Advance database, InDesign and Adobe software preferred • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information • Ability to work with multiple constituencies, including school-based development staff, fundraisers • Flexibility: willing to take on new assignments and work occasional evening/weekend events as needed. Candidate will take on other projects as assigned
