Department: Instructional Design Hours per Week: 40 Months per Year: 12 Job Summary: Gonzaga University is seeking a professional and experienced individual for the position of Senior Graphic Designer & Developer, Instructional Design and Delivery (IDD). The position requires a person who can work closely with instructional designers, digital content producers, and Gonzaga faculty and staff to promote, support and develop innovative instructional media in support of the departmental and university missions. The Senior Graphic Designer & Developer will lead design for Instructional Design and Delivery on various projects and work with academic faculty, the GEM Marketing Department, the University Marketing & Communications Department, outside vendors, and other internal clients to understand their needs and make informed design and creative decisions for instructional materials utilizing, video, multimedia, interactive media, animation, virtual reality, augmented reality, web, mobile, social media, email, and print. The Designer develops and produces innovative media such as static and motion graphics, animation, and interactive web components as well as drives the brand strategy for the Instructional Design and Delivery team's strategic advancement of emerging technological innovation across the university. The Designer conducts research into emerging technologies for conveying information related to teaching and learning, develops strategic initiatives related to those technologies, and guides implementation from a technical standpoint (hardware, infrastructure, deployment in the LMS, etc.). The Designer also assesses efficacy of new products and makes recommendations for additional uses or integrations based on that assessment. The Designer serves as the primary producer of graphic-based media for online and hybrid courses and contributes to the process of implementation of media in the LMS. Minimum Qualifications: 5+ years industry experience in design and web development A bachelor's degree from an accredited, postsecondary institution in graphic design or similar degree Demonstrate complete command and knowledge with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign) Knowledge of print and electronic media, print production, and audience development is required Basic working knowledge of HTML and Flash Web-coding and development knowledge Experience in graphic design, web design, print design, branding and type. Experience with Social Media. Ability to work as a member of a team High-level of project management and organizational skills, including the ability to meet multiple deadlines at once. Experience with managing timelines, demands and priorities, while working with clients internal and external. Demonstrated understanding of brand standards and consistency. Professionalism, maturity, and judgment in all interactions. Familiarity with online programs and the needs of graduate students. Ability to learn and apply institutional policies and procedures. Must be a self-starter who is able to take design direction from conception to production.
