Virginia Military Institute invites applications for an Assistant Registrar for Institutional Compliance. Virginia Military Institute is a state-supported four-year undergraduate military college of liberal arts, engineering, and the sciences. There are approximately 1,700 students. It is located in the southern Shenandoah Valley of Virginia in the town of Lexington. Lexington, population 7,000, is also home to Washington and Lee University and offers a stimulating cultural atmosphere in a pleasant, rural setting. Lexington, Virginia is a charming college town and is often recognized as one of Americaâs âbest small towns.â This is an Administrative Professional Faculty position, that requires employees who are United States citizens to wear military uniforms and adhere to military customs, but military experience is neither required nor expected. Principal Duties: â¢In an effort to maintain all administrative and regulatory requirements of the unit, incumbent maintains a working knowledge of all VMI academic programs, VMI rules and regulations, international student and NCAA rules and regulations pertaining to academic eligibility and progress towards degree rules. Interprets VMI academic rules, regulations and policies of the Institute relative to compliance. â¢Serves as a team of professionals focused on providing an infrastructure that can be used to optimize rules compliance and a pathway to success for cadet-athletes to receive their degrees from VMI. Incumbent will work in close concert with the Institute Registrarâs Leadership Team and support staff, VMIâs Faculty Athletic Representative and Associate Athletics Director for Academic Services and Compliance as necessary. â¢Coordinates VMIâs Academic Catalogue updates and revisions for the yearly publication of VMIâs on-line Undergraduate Catalogue. Coordinates and maintains set up, formatting and entry into the Digital Architecture Acalog software for publication. â¢Provides support to the National Student Clearinghouse degree verification and transcript ordering processes, Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) support, and GoArmy support coordinated through the unit. â¢Works with the Office Manager in the creation, support and execution of the VMI master course schedule, as well as the registration/enrollment processes. â¢Provides support to the Registrar and Associate Registrar(s) in relation to matriculation, graduation, academic reviews, Deanâs List, Distinguished in Academic Merit, academic probation and academic suspension coordination. â¢Excellent understanding of query development and data analysis. Develops and runs scripts from Entrinsik in support of the functions of the position â i.e. transfer credit posted requiring follow-up, Athlete lists for comparison to CAi, Program Evaluations / Transcripts and data verification reports, etc. â¢Performs other related duties as assigned by the Registrar in support of data projects, mandated requirements, cadet placement testing and data cleanup. â¢Serves as a permanent member of the Registrarâs Office staff supporting daily operations of the unit. Serves on Committees as requested by the Registrar, or in support of the NCAA Compliance process. â¢Provides front-line support to the counter, phone, mail and support of the office structure including registration, enrollment, course changes, graduation, summer session, course changes, transcripts, verifications and investigator visits. Responsibilities will include: â¢Supporting the NCAA academic eligibility certification process for cadet-athletes by preparing, certifying and entering for the Registrar all academic eligibility data into the NCAAâs Compliance Assistant (CAi) database each certification cycle so as to ensure compliance with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Southern Conference, and Virginia Military Institute by-laws, rules, regulations and policies that apply to cadet-athletes. â¢Enters and corrects academic eligibility data as needed in the CAi compliance software â Term Attempted Credit, Earned Credit, Advance Standing Credit, GPA, Program, Hours and Progress Towards Degree. â¢Coordinate, image and maintain copies of the incoming rat transcripts for shared access to the Athletics Compliance and Cadet Athlete Development Office(s). â¢Works directly and independently with the Registrar, VMIâs Faculty Athletic Representative and Associate Athletics Director for Academic Services on issues pertaining to cadet roster accuracy, eligibility, transfer credit verification and degree completion.
