Purpose: The successful candidate is an outstanding teacher with native or native-like fluency in Spanish and a solid background in linguistic pedagogy. Ideally, this person is capable of teaching all levels, from level one through level five and/or AP. This candidate is comfortable teaching authentic material from media sources and instills in students an excitement and joy for continued language learning. The successful candidate is also a lifelong learner who welcomes opportunities for professional development and collegial conversation aiding in the development of effective communication skills in the Spanish-language classroom as well as an abiding appreciation of culture.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Spanish (or its equivalent)
Minimum three years of experience as an Upper School Spanish teacher preferred
Experience with pedagogical strategies associated with TPRS and Comprehensible Input highly sought
Ability to teach another language (e.g., Latin or French), a plus but not necessary
Digital Literacy and proficiency in twenty-first-century pedagogy
Commitment to participate broadly in the life of the school
