UW Medicine Supply Chain Management team has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time, SYSTEM RECEIVING SUPERVISOR, MATERIALS & LOGISTICS. The System Receiving Supervisor, Materials & Logistics is accountable for the collaborative integration, implementation, and optimization of the UW Medicine Supply Chain strategy at the system level and reports directly to the System Receiving Manager, Materials & Logistics. This position is responsible for daily supervision of all supply chain receiving and courier functions. The System Receiving Supervisor, Materials & Logistics develops and conducts employee annual performance reviews and participates in budget development under the direction of the System Receiving Manager, Materials & Logistics.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Position Dimensions and Impact on UW Medicine Under the guidance of the System Receiving Manager, Materials & Logistics, assist in the leading of the UW Medicine Supply Chain vision and overall strategy which includes standardized facility-based receiving, storage, inventory management/control, point of use/low unit of measure, and distribution operations in all of UW Medicine. Provides day-to-day supervision of department staff which includes scheduling work, monitoring performance to ensure compliance with guidelines, policies, and procedures, providing feedback on performance, and writing and conducting performance reviews. Develops procedures, job standards, and evaluation criteria in coordination with the Manager. Assists as necessary with product recalls and/or returns. Maintains and monitor department KPIs/metrics. Takes action/or makes recommendations based upon analysis of information. Monitor labor hours reporting and make adjustments to staffing as appropriate. Optimize use of Materials Management Information System and other supply chain automation tools that works to eliminate unnecessary work, simplify necessary work, centralize simplified work, and automate centralized work. Monitors the supply areas for neatness and cleanliness to ensure they meet the Joint Commission and OSHA standards and takes action as appropriate to ensure compliance. Participates in project teams and committees as necessary. Participates in professional activities to keep abreast of changes and developments in the Supply Chain Management profession. Apply and enforce procurement separation of function practices in accordance with the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) and accounting practices for establishing appropriate inventory management controls, utilizing Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Serve as a customer service advocate and ensures staff responds to all customer requests and requirements in a highly responsive and professional manner. Carry out system-wide logistics policies and procedures at the facility level and ensure these standardized polices are consistently implemented. Ensure system compliance for Joint Commission Accreditation and other regulatory bodies for storage and delivery of supplies as well as recalled or suspended inventory products. Recruit, hire, and set performance expectations of direct reports. Perform evaluations counseling, corrective action and trains staff according to system wide policies and procedures. Identify, coach and/or mentor top talent for leadership opportunities and succession management. Create a foundation that supports and develops team members allowing for growth and success. Engages in continuing education initiatives to ensure that leading edge technologies are utilized appropriately within the system. Assist with operations of the courier fleet to meet vehicle compliance, daily schedules and timely delivery of services. Oversee the management of receiving departments for UW Medicine. Other duties as assigned or directed.

Fiscal Management Function as a member of the UW Medicine Supply Chain management team participating in the development of operating and capital budgets, programs, policies and plans for the effective operation of the health system. Responsible to partner with UW Medicine management to pursue opportunities for reduction of expenses in equipment, supplies and service areas for all aspects of the supply chain. Deliver cost savings and value maximization to the total cost of ownership of equipment, supplies and services while fulfilling the mission of the organization. Assure appropriate Internal Control processes are in place across the procurement cycle functions and are promulgated throughout the enterprise.

Information Management Must understand supply chain requirements in healthcare environments with multiple logistical concerns and issues. Must know the inventory and distribution software capabilities of the Materials Management Information System. This position must support standardized systems that can be carried out and maintained by site based leadership to be successful. Proficiency with the MS-Office suite of products, Outlook, and MMIS. Able to rapidly summarize information and present to others
REQUIREMENTS Completion of a recognized Central Supply Technician course AND three years of technical experience involving sterilization of surgical trays, medical supplies, equipment and instruments in a hospital or institution central medical supply unit
OR
High school graduation or equivalent AND four years of experience processing complex trays of surgical instruments and equipment
OR
Equivalent education/experience.
DESIRED A Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, Business or Logistics/Supply Chain Management or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience is required. Formal training in Lean/Six Sigma or similar process improvement programs is preferred.
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of Supply Chain Management or Finance experience with 1 year in a healthcare setting, including at least 1 year in a Lead, Specialist, Coordinator, or Supervisory level leadership role. 2 years in a healthcare setting preferred. Key experience highlights include; healthcare business operations and/or financial management experience in a healthcare setting; experience standardizing disparate processes; experience in process improvement methodology, change management, operational improvement.
CMRP (Certified Materials Resource Professional) Preferred
