The Transportation Research Project Manager will serve as the main lead in managing and coordinating various research projects underway and forthcoming at the C2SMART Center. C2SMART has established a new long-term research program to assist state agencies with evaluating, understanding, and undertaking its transportation research needs toward improving and modernizing intelligent transportation systems (ITS). As a result, C2SMART will undertake several projects in coordination with its agencies, vendors, engineering firms and consultants, and other research partners. This position will be responsible for overseeing and managing the various projects while fulfilling all sponsor requests and needs for successful execution of these projects. They will coordinate across all of the faculty, students, and staff leading the principal technical research under these projects, as well as a portfolio of new agency & industry partners that will be engaged on these projects. The Research Project Manager will require strong outreach and relationship management skills in addition to the high-level of coordination and organization needed to ensure projects proceed smoothly.
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Education: Master's Degree
Required Experience: 3+ years in project management, project coordination, research coordination, or related.
Preferred Experience: 3+ years experience working with state/city departments of transportation, transportation engineering companies, and related.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: • Experience in project management, research coordination, administrative oversight, transportation research, or related
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work on numerous projects and initiatives simultaneously, and the ability to work independently with general direction from leadership
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain relationships with internal staff, sponsors, and third parties
• Excellent communication skills: written/oral/presentation/etc
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: • Experience working in a research center or academic environment with students, faculty, etc
• Knowledge of transportation datasets, technologies, vendors/providers, and best practices
• Knowledge of New York-area transportation systems
