Position Summary The Program Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations for a recently awarded Center of Artificial Intelligence Technology (CAIT) sponsored by an industry partner, and supports the operations for the Engineering hub located at 2276 12th Avenue. The Program Manager will report to the Director of the Center of Artificial Intelligence Technology for operations of the Center and the Chief Administrative Officer of SEAS. They will also work with Director of Strategic Collaborations of SEAS. In 2020, SEAS establish the Center of Artificial Intelligence Technology in collaboration with Amazon, who provides support over 5 years to support research projects, Ph.D. fellowship, as well as outreach events such as seminar series and annual research symposia. Annual calls for proposals are issued to solicit proposals for research projects and fellowships. In addition, SEAS creates a 10,000 sq ft research hub to support collaborative research, training, and outreach activities. The engineering research hub will also host research, education, translation programs of large research centers of SEAS. The currently available position is funded partly by CAIT and partly by SEAS.
Responsibilities (40%)Coordinates the day-to-day operations of the Center. Execute programs of the Center and ensures that Center milestones are met, including calls for proposals, research and fellowship proposal review, research award stewardship, seminar series, and research symposia, etc. Primary contact with sponsor's representatives. (25%) Facilitates collaborations among industry partners, faculty, students, and postdocs. Prepares for progress reports and financial reports of the Center. Develop and implement plans for communication, promotion, and visibility including online activities and Center web site. (20%) Coordinates meetings and events of the Center. Interfaces with faculty, staff, and managers of other centers at the Engineering hub at 2276 12th Avenue. Supports faculty and researchers at the Engineering hub in event planning, organization, and project management. (10%) Assists faculty and researchers at the Engineering hub in large proposal preparation, development and writing. Provides support for special initiatives in Dean's office of SEAS. - (5%) Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree with Master's degree is preferred.
- 3-5 years of related experience
- Demonstrated achievement in project management, organizational and follow-through skills, superior interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, close attention to detail.
- Ability to work cross-functionally as part of a team as well as an individual contributor.
- Ability to think independently as well as perform tasks according to the directions of project leaders.
- Experience interacting with all levels of faculty, management and staff, and ability to manage complex programs, preferably in the fields of engineering and science.
- Experience with managing university-industry or federal contracts is preferable.
- Experience with event planning is desirable.
- High degree of proficiency with computer software (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, project management tools).
