Director of Product Management

ABOUT SEARCH INSTITUTE:  Search Institute is a non-profit organization that partners with schools, youth programs, and other organizations to conduct and apply research that promotes positive youth development and advances equity. Search Institute generates new knowledge through mixed-methods studies and develops and delivers workshops, surveys, and other resources that enable practitioners and parents to understand and act on the science of youth development.

The Director of Product Management ensures that product development and marketing efforts align and support Search Institute’s overall strategy and goals. The Director of Product Management leads a team of staff and contractors and is responsible for the full product life cycle including product planning, development, fulfillment and marketing communications.   The Director works closely with the Research and Practice team to develop products which meet the requirements of partners and clients. 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Product Planning, Development and Improvement

• Develop market needs and trend analyses
• Define the product strategy and roadmap for new and existing products
• Manage new product development including content curation to align with market needs and trends
• Develop the annual sales budget
• Set pricing to meet sales and profitability goals
• Lead monthly sales performance reporting and next steps planning
• Develop competitive expertise through regular analyses
• Lead the development of sales tools and collateral
• Maintain the 12 month rolling sales forecast
• Work with external third parties to assess partnerships and licensing opportunities

Product Fulfillment

• Manage the fulfillment processes for workshops, surveys and publications
• Lead the evaluation and  continuous improvement of fulfillment processes 
• Define the product training needs for workshop contractors
• Lead staff training and communications on products
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Oversee Marketing Communications & Outreach

Lead and manage staff and contractors in:

• Developing the core positioning and messaging for products 
• Developing and disseminating findings and tools from Search Institute research to inform and support practitioners and the public
• Planning  and execution of promotions for workshops, survey and publication products
• Developing press releases, speeches and key messages for important events
• Managing Search’s web presence across all platforms
• Developing and executing the social media and content marketing plans
• Monitoring and managing consistency in Search Institute’s brand identity
• Development and refinement of marketing communications goals
• Delivering monthly reports on marketing communications effectiveness
• Development of the annual report
