Title: Managing Editor FLSA Status: Exempt Supervisor: Vice President, Content Creation Location: Fairfax/ Remote Department: Content Creation Alt Work Eligibility: CWW -Yes, Telework -Yes, Remote -Yes Level: Manager Summary of Position: AVIXA (Audiovisual & Integrated Experience Association) is seeking a dynamic Managing Editor to join our content team as a catalyst for editorial innovation. Reporting to the VP of Content, the Managing Editor will oversee our daily publishing operations. Our Managing Editor combines the sharpness of a writer with the practical focus of an operations manager in order to inspire and inform our audiences. You will use both data and experience to develop ideas for stories, manage pitches from other staff and freelancers, and see them through to publication. You will need exceptional organizational and people skills as well as a unique problem-solving ability. You will use analytics to drive programming decisions and direction of our digital properties. Bonus points for experience with or a passion for the AV industry. We’re embarking on a notable digital transformation and we need an incisive teammate with a discerning eye to help us on this editorial journey. We expect and will empower this person to bring a lot of modern content-driven ideas that we may not have yet considered. Major Duties & Responsibilities: - Plan and manage all digital content operations
- Coordinate and manage the creation and curation of digital content
- Manage editorial production priorities for both in-house and contracted video production teams
- Collaborate with other teams to source additional content from partners, members, event speakers, etc.
- Manage freelance writers
- Program digital content across websites and apps, including AVIXA.org and relevant trade show and conference properties
- Collaborate with audience engagement team to develop and execute social media content strategy and schedule
- Oversee proofreading procedures and edit copy when necessary
- Assist in evaluating finalized copy for compliance with policies, style, and tone
- Optimize digital content for traffic, engagement, and SEO
- Attend industry and association events on behalf of the company
- Ideate and develop additional editorial projects (ex: webinars, live streams) as relevant

- Be one step ahead of trends and news impacting the industry and its adjacencies
- Proven experience in or leading to managing editor or relevant role
- Exceptional ability in copywriting and editing
- Proficiency in English. Bonus points for additional language comprehension or fluency!
- Experience working with CMS/ digital publishing platforms (such as Sitefinity, WordPress, Drupal, Brightspot, Arc, etc.)
- Experience and a passion for integrating data into editorial decisions on a daily basis and working knowledge of analytics platforms (such as Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Parse.ly, Chartbeat, etc.)
- Outstanding communication and people skills
