Bachelorâs degree and 8 years of related experience
Advanced degree in a STEM or business field
Experience in industry aligned with state economic development priorities (biosciences, advanced manufacturing, IT or EdTech)
Experience in identifying funding opportunities for program development, and in securing and managing state and federal grant funds
Experience interacting with broad stakeholder groups
Experience with project management
Experience with strategic planning
Experience with university financial and grant programs and processes (i.e., ability to work well with OSPA)
The Office of Economic Development and Industry Relations (EDIR) assists external stakeholders in accessing the unique capabilities and services of Iowa State University. EDIR is a single point of contact to streamline the process of making connections between industry and the university.
The Director of Stakeholder Engagement, impacts and supports economic development by engaging internal and external key stakeholders, including academic, professional, community, and industry members by:
Functioning as a corporate engagement team member in collaboration with representatives from externally-facing ISU units to create comprehensive strategies for developing multi-dimensional, mutually beneficial partnerships with companies.
Working in collaboration with campus partners to develop, deploy and sustain effective models for stakeholder engagement that support the strategic and research priorities of the university.
Providing leadership and contributing to advancement of state economic development priorities as well as facilitate internal connections and contribute to initiatives in support of the universityâs strategic goals.
Seeking to identify opportunities to develop and manage internal programs that support economic development while seeking to enhance the visibility of the university and advance its land grant mission through participation in national or regional programs.
Developing expert knowledge of ISUâs research strengths, strategic priorities, resources and facilities to help promote engagement with stakeholders.
Excellent communication, collaboration and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
Strong analytical and problem solving skills; a high degree of ethical decision making; sound judgement; initiative; critical thinking skills
