Your opportunity To support our ESG ambition, we are seeking dedicated leadership resource; you will be an integral component of our ability to meet client demand and deliver differentiated services in this area. Working within Transaction Services (a practice that operates as part of Deloitte's Financial Advisory service line), this is a leadership role dedicated to building our capabilities in ESG due diligence and post-transaction ESG implementation work. You will be responsible for the go to market, product evolution and capability development of these areas. We anticipate that this role would provide the opportunity to progress to Partner, subject to the individual building the business and consistently demonstrating the right attributes. We encourage consideration of flexible ways of working, both formal and informal arrangements that allow for the best outcomes for our people and our clients. If this opportunity is of interest to you with some flexibility, please do discuss with us.
Your role Our ambition is to support a wide range of UK and global clients on their most pressing ESG challenges and opportunities, with M&A and a change in ownership often a key trigger of change.
You will work alongside a team of ESG experts in Financial Advisory, covering Operations and People issues, and a broader community of ESG related experts across the firm, including our Sustainability, Human Capital and Tax experts. Key to this role's success is experience in taking to market ESG with both a practical and an operational lens applied; thus creating a narrative which will be valued and considered relevant by M&A investment professionals in Private Equity and Corporate clients.
As a leader within this service area, you will have responsibility for: Go to Market
Working with our origination team to research and develop points of view on M&A assets coming to market to support the overall TS pipeline
Identifying potential assets which are attractive to ESG funds
Developing an approach for specific sectors (FS, Consumer, Industrial Products, Energy & Utilities and TMT) to lead the discussion with clients engaged in M&A on the ESG agenda
Accompanying others into the market to act as a trusted advisor and provide ESG-specific 'war stories' on previous experiences of creating and implementing ESG programmes within an M&A context
Developing a network of Partners and Directors, to educate and build confidence within the community on ESG
Developing our go to market activities with our chosen clients, demonstrating ability to generate leads and expand our current conversations and opportunities
Sales and sales pipeline
Developing a pipeline of opportunities by supporting account and sector teams
Creating a compelling pre-and post-deal offering for M&A
Leading own, and support others', sales activities to deliver ESG revenues.
Defining and refining our ESG service offering to meet market needs and potential growth opportunities
Overseeing diligence and post-deal delivery programmes; developing, leading and training a team as part of this programme. We have significant corporate finance capability in India and we would expect the delivery aspect of service offerings to include drawing on existing capability in FA, RA, and underpinned by our delivery engine in India. We would also anticipate much of the offering to be supported via digital means – we have a dedicated Digital function within FA who can support this.
Working alongside SMEs in FA and across the firm, to provide technical expertise on the following: - Environmental regulation and standards - Environmental impact analysis and reputational drivers - Environmental governance and controls - Environmental supply chain and workplace implications - Trends in consumer, social and regulatory implications as a result of sustainability and environmental changes
Recruiting and training ESG professionals to build the team
Supporting, performance management and reviewing team members
Building collateral to underpin delivery programme and go to market activities
Developing strong relationships with internal stakeholders across the firm, and within FA, act as a sounding board to those other FA businesses which need to integrate ESG considerations into their existing offerings.
Becoming known as one of our key spokespeople/'go to' subject matter experts on ESG, to complement the existing expertise within FA.
