The communications manager joins a talented team of marketing, communication, and admissions professionals who are advancing BU Laws reputation as one of the nations top law schools and spearheading efforts to optimize enrollments in the schools LLM, masters degree, and certificate programs. They play a key role in advancing Boston University School of Laws reputation by securing, producing, and/or distributing owned and earned media. They manage the law schools official social media channels, using organic and sponsored content to engage target audience segments and influence influencers, such as law faculty at other schools, journalists who cover relevant topics, members of the legal profession, and others. The communications manager also prepares and pitches stories to members of the media, proposes and seeks to place op-eds by legal experts on the faculty, and actively works to place BU Law faculty in print, broadcast, and other media to comment on important and timely topics. In addition, they serve as the primary liaison to the Universitys central editorial and PR/social media teams, facilitate incoming media requests, produce news and editorial content for BU Law print and digital publications, and coordinate internal communications for students, faculty, and staff.
Bachelors degree and 3-5 years of relevant experience required. Demonstrated success generating coverage, securing op-eds, and placing expert commentary in external media outlets. A solid grasp of social media and experience using social platforms, organic and paid, to enhance an organizations visibility and advance its reputation among key target audiences. Strong writing and reporting capabilities; the ability to produce compelling news and editorial content on deadline. Comfortable working with common technologies used to manage communications and related activities. Experience producing short video, audio, and other multimedia content preferred.
