The Statewide Database (SWDB) at Berkeley Law is the Redistricting Database for the State of California and is charged with the implementation of some of the Legislature's redistricting mandates, specifically those spelled out by CA Government Code Section 8253.6 (b), The Legislature shall take all steps necessary to ensure that a complete and accurate computerized database is available for redistricting, and that procedures are in place to provide the public ready access to redistricting data and computer software for drawing maps. This position will assist members of the public in using tools to facilitate public access to the statewide redistricting process. This role will be performed remotely unless and until public health orders allow for the opening of physical redistricting access sites. At that point this position may become an in-person position to support one of 5 or more redistricting access sites, located throughout the State of California and provide public access support there. The Statewide Database is in need of 5 Redistricting Access Technical Support Analysts to assist members of the public with technical questions and issues encountered while participating in California's statewide redistricting process. There will be 5 regional access sites and each site will be staffed with one Technical Support Analyst. The location sites are: 1. San Diego 2. Los Angeles 3. Inland Empire (San Bernardino) 4. Central Valley (Fresno) 5. Sacramento Due to the pandemic, it is unclear if and when the in-person sites will be able to open, but applicants should be prepared to report to their assigned regional access site should COVID-19 restrictions ease. Initially, these positions will provide technical support to the public remotely, moving into an in-person/onsite position at redistricting access sites should those be permitted to open, subject to COVID-19 established protocols. This is a one-year project to provide access during the state redistricting process. These positions will provide support with online redistricting software, a Community of Interest collection tool, and a QGIS plug-in, all of which were developed specifically for the California process. Salary & Benefits This is an exempt, monthly paid position. The annual salary range of the position is $72,418.42 (Step 4.0) to $79,947.76 (Step 6.0), commensurate with experience.
