The Position Open as a result of an internal promotion, this position is located at Gallagher’s corporate headquarters in Rolling Meadows, Illinois, and reports to the Vice President and General Counsel. The Global Chief Compliance Officer will be responsible for providing global strategic leadership on ethics and compliance issues, driving compliance initiatives and projects to completion, as well as ensuring continuous implementation and enhancement of Gallagher’s global compliance program. The Global Chief Compliance Officer will be a proven leader who possesses the executive presence to exercise influence and effectuate results, and who can build relationships throughout the global organization with Gallagher’s management team, CEO and Board of Directors, as well as with global business leaders. Responsibilities The Global Chief Compliance Officer will be responsible for providing proactive, business-focused legal and compliance counsel to Gallagher’s global operations and will be required to: - Work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders, including Gallagher’s senior management and Board of Directors, global compliance resources in the business units, as well as other Gallagher staff functions (e.g., human resources, internal audit, IT, risk management) to identify and minimize compliance risks and drive continuous implementation of compliance initiatives company-wide. Oversee employees engaged in compliance globally.
- Maintain an ongoing monitoring program to measure the effectiveness of Gallagher's compliance program and to identify successes and as well as areas for further improvement;
- Continually develop, drive and implement processes, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Gallagher’s Global Standards of Business Conduct as well as key laws and regulations such as FCPA and those administered by OFAC;
- Manage a small team of direct reports, as well as provide oversight and direction to a compliance team of about 100 employees worldwide;
- Manage the Global Chief Privacy Officer, and provide direction and support on global privacy matters, including data privacy and cyber security;
- Prepare reports on compliance initiatives and present to Gallagher’s senior management and Board of Directors as required;
- Working closely with global business leaders and business unit compliance resources, be responsible for due diligence, education and monitoring of Gallagher’s suppliers, strategic vendors and business partners and agents to ensure their understanding of, and compliance with, Gallagher’s Global Standards of Business Conduct and applicable laws and regulations.
- Provide advice, counsel and support on compliance issues arising out of Gallagher’s merger and acquisition activity, including due diligence and acquisition integration.
- Collaborating closely with other stakeholders such as internal audit, IT, and/or Gallagher’s General Counsel, lead and/or assist in the investigation and evaluation of allegations of noncompliance. Develop, continuously monitor, and ensure implementation of corrective action plans.
- Stay current and serve as a subject matter expert on legal and compliance developments, industry activities and emerging trends relating to Gallagher’s global business, including anti-corruption laws and requirements.
