We are both leveraging current assets and building new, integrated solutions to provide a holistic set of industry-leading data and analytic capabilities, supporting Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and real-time insights. Teams from Data and Analytics, Research Analytics, Clinical Data Science, and Information Systems are collaborating to build this new data and analytic ecosystem. To ensure success of this effort, Mass General Brigham is standing up a new Data and Analytics operating model with a goal of driving a level of standardization for data and analytic operations across the teams involved.
The value of investments in data and analytics were proven out during our response to COVID-19 as these investments were leveraged to stand up new reporting and analytic capabilities to support executive and clinical leadership on managing the pandemic. Our broad data and analytic community has come together across Mass General Brigham 's 14 healthcare sites with shared urgency, delivering analytic tools to our system that drove timely insights in both clinical and operational domains, resulting in effective delivery of critical care and in organizational efficiencies during a time of reduced resources.

Role Summary
The Enterprise Business Intelligence (EBI) department within the Data and Analytics Organization (DAO) is seeking an experienced Senior Developer who will thrive as a member of an experienced, high performing and highly motivated team. The incumbent will be responsible for designing and developing robust visualizations that enable our system to deliver affordable, high quality patient care and services. A desire and ability to take ownership of complex projects and drive them to completion is required.
The Senior Developer is responsible for translating business requirements into reports and dashboards that tell the story and transform data into knowledge. They will be responsible for designing and building highly visible dashboards and reports using a wide variety of data sources, including but not limited to our electronic medical record (Epic), Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and Data Lake (Azure). The Senior Developer will ensure accurate and quality reporting of hospital data and devise strategies to improve the dissemination of these data in a quality manner that meets the department's standards.
The Senior Developer is a key player for the realization of our analytics strategy as it pertains to our broader organizational goals. This includes providing mentorship and guidance on projects, workgroups, and steering committees. The incumbent will meet with DAO senior leaders and stakeholders across Mass General Brigham (MGB) to help inform the role, strategy, and further implementation of analytics across MGB.
Principal Duties & Functions
- Work with a cross-functional team to understand functional product requirements and deliver on strategic data and analytics initiatives.
- Follows design and data standards, resolves data issues, completes unit testing, and completes system documentation.
- Collaborates with business analysts, source system experts and other team members to determine data extraction and transformation requirements.
- Manages the implementation of a multi-year project to roll out Tableau dashboards to staff at all levels, including provider/surgeon performance dashboards in order to drive improvement in transparency, cost, and quality for MGB as a whole
- Promotes visual analytics internally and externally to create awareness of our offering and to educate on the possibilities of incorporating visualization to aid in solving business challenges
- Establishes, refines, and implements a vision and strategy for disseminated performance metrics & analytics across the MGB organization.
- Performs analysis of existing data sources and reports within the electronic medical record, MGB Enterprise Data Warehouse, Data Lake, and other internal and external data sources available in order to glean meaningful insights and produce actionable reports for DAO customers
- Identifies and implement improvements in analytics and data delivery to MGB staff by leveraging knowledge of business intelligence, data warehousing and healthcare analytics.
- Manages project dependencies and timelines while reporting status and issues and risks to appropriate audiences
- Works with new and existing BI developers to share knowledge in methods of data analysis, summarization, and presentation. Trains other analysts and end-users on key analytic and reporting systems and databases
Qualifications
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or related field required, Master's degree preferred
- 3-5 years of healthcare or related experience required
- 3-5 years of experience with Tableau or equivalent data visualization tool
- Experience working in an Agile / Scrum environment is preferred
- Familiarity with data preparation techniques and tools such as Alteryx and Tableau Prep
- Tableau Certification strongly preferred
- Proficiency in querying complex data structures using SQL

- Ability to effectively conduct meetings, both formal and informal
- Requires minimal direction from leadership and possesses the ability to learn quickly
Working Conditions
MGB has implemented special remote working policies due to COVID-19. These policies are subject to change; however, it is currently expected that this position will work remotely (e.g. from home) full time through June 2021
