The FYE department of Maryland Institute College of Art invites applications for this part-time faculty position to teach studio courses in a non-tenure institution. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:- Versed in traditional and contemporary art and design practices
- Ability to work with analog and digital processes within the classroom space
- Specific skill sets required depending on courses applied for
- Ability to work with first year students in a rigorous art and design learning context
- The ability to successfully engage a diverse student body
- Collaborative and collegial approach to working the MICA community
Minimum qualifications: - Bachelorâs Degree
- A strong record of professional excellence as demonstrated by a portfolio work and exhibition activity or the equivalent
- Personal commitment to teaching on a college level
- Proficiency in a range of techniques applicable in the FYE program courses
- Candidate will be required to complete a full background check
Preferred Qualifications: - MFA or equivalent experience
- College/University teaching beyond assistantships
- Experience working with communities outside of the home institution

Reporting to this position: No direct reports Satisfactory background check Physical demands and work environment: - Physical Demands: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. - Work environment: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
