Position Summary The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) seeks an experienced Facilities Manager. The Manager will report to the Director of Facilities and Space Planning and is responsible for the provision of effective facilities-related services to the entire School. The incumbent will work with the Director on long-range planning and to establish priorities for facilities maintenance, repairs, and improvements. Additional responsibilities include administering contracts, enforcing contract requirements, client management, project reporting including correspondence, budget, and scheduling. In partnership with University Facilities the Facilities Manager will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high quality services to clients while maximizing the efficient use of University resources. The Facilities Manager will manage service requests and respond to emergencies. S/he will participate in the planning and execution of building projects that include renovations, upgrades of space, interior reconfigurations, and cosmetic improvement and related projects. Conduct safety audits at SEAS and monitor building systems. Provide a conduit for effective communication and relations between SEAS and CU Facilities, Environmental Health and Safety, Public Safety, Real Estate, Fire Safety, and Trade Shops to ensure a well-coordinated effort to respond to issues pertaining to facilities maintenance.
Responsibilities - (40%) Participate in the planning and execution of building projects that include renovations, upgrades of space, interior reconfigurations, and cosmetic improvement and related projects. Manage small renovation projects independently including coordination of various trades.
- (20%) Service Ticket Management: in partnership with University Facilities the Facilities Manager will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high quality services to clients while maximizing the efficient use of University resources. The Facilities Manager will manage service requests and respond to emergencies.
- (15%)Responsible for the provision of effective facilities-related services to the entire School, the incumbent will work with the Director on long-range planning and to establish priorities for facilities maintenance, repairs, and improvements: administering contracts, enforcing contract requirements, client management, project reporting including correspondence, budget, and scheduling.
- (10%) Conduct safety reviews at SEAS, monitor building operations.
- (10%)Provide a conduit for effective communication and relations between SEAS and CU Facilities, Environmental Health and Safety, Public Safety, Real Estate, Fire Safety, and Trade Shops to ensure a well-coordinated effort to respond to issues pertaining to facilities maintenance.
- (5%) Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree and/or the equivalent required.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in one of the following is required: management of physical plant operations and maintenance; institutional project management; or higher education planning/design.
- Knowledge of the practices, methods, and equipment utilized in all phases of facilities management, including familiarity with HVAC, mechanical, electrical, monitoring, and control systems preferred.
- Must have excellent communication and customer service skills to work effectively in a strong service environment that is subject to changing priorities. Strong organizational skills are a must.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and follow through on assignments with minimal direction.
- Position typically involves moderate to heavy physical activity and exertion, including heavy lifting.
