The UWMC Montlake Campus Operations & Maintenance Department is seeking a BIOMEDICAL ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN 1 (BMET1) to join our Bed Shop team. We are seeking a candidate who is an excellent team player with a robust eagerness to learn new skills and provide world class customer service to patients and staff. Primary duties will include performing preventative and corrective maintenance on the following equipment types:
•Patient Beds (Medical Surgical, ICU, L&D) •Stretchers (transport, procedural, radiology, specialty, etc.) •Surgical Tables •Ceiling mounted Patient Lift systems (need to be able to lift 50 pound weights for annual re-certification testing) •Exam and Procedure Tables and Chairs •Transport and Wheel Chairs •Nurse Call adaptive switches •Over Bed Tables •Medical Air CO monitoring system
The Biomedical Electronics Technician 1 will also perform entry-level biomedical electronics work troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, installing, testing and calibrating a variety of analog and/or digital biomedical electronic instruments, apparatus, and equipment used in a health care facility under direct supervision.

An Associate's Degree in Biomedical Technology OR Equivalent education/experience OR Certification by the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) as a candidate
• Desirable skills would be in support of other Bed Shop team responsibilities, including supporting Nurse Call network and integration with mobile devices, Real Time Location System (RTLS) asset tracking system support and tagging of equipment, and other related tasks.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Basic medical terminology
• Familiarity with electronics, mechanical and electromechanical methods
• Knowledge of clinical applications of common medical equipment.
• Able to identify and understand the basic operating principles of standard analog circuits and electromechanical components.
• Able to identify major circuit components.
• Able to successfully identify and order proper replacement components from OEM or third party.
• Demonstrates ability to accurately acquire basic competency on new technologies or makes of equipment through self-study of manufacturer’s documentation and other sources.
• Routinely exercises logical, progressive trouble shooting techniques at both the systems and component levels.
• Reads, understands and interprets the logical flow of service documentation including schematics, parts lists, servicing procedures and specifications.
• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
