Position Title: Chairside Dental Assistant Classification Title: FT Staff Non Union City/Campus: Detroit - Corktown Department: Dental Clinic Position Status: Full Time Position Summary: This position is designed to provide a support staff member in any area necessary in the dental clinic due to staff shortage or short term increased demands. This individual must be adept in all areas of clinical dentistry. Responsibilities include the following: assisting in general dentistry as well as endodontic, pediatric, periodontal and oral surgery, radiology, implants and dispensary/sterilization. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (1) Competently perform dental assisting duties as they relate to each specific clinical area as needed to replace permanent staff member or help with increasing needs. This includes set up and breakdown of operatories, while following all infection control protocols, OSHA and HIPAA regulations. (2) Properly exposing, scanning, and mounting digital radiographs. (3) Accurate charting using the Electronic Health Record. (4) Proficiently assisting in any capacity in other patient care areas including emergency, radiology and sterilization, as requested. (5) Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. Education (Minimum/Preferred): High School Diploma/Equivalent. Michigan Radiology Certification Required. CPR Certification, or attainable within 90 days. Experience (Minimum/Preferred): CDA/RDA preferred. Associates Degree preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: (1) Must be competent in dental terminology, instrumentation, 4-handed assisting in general and dental specialty procedures. (2) Must be knowledgeable of proper HIPAA, OSHA and infection control procedures. (3) Experience assisting in implants, periodontal and surgical procedures is preferred. (4) Must have experience using a personal computer. Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit and bend. Must have manual dexterity to manage four handed dentistry and instrument transfer. Must be mobile and able to move around the building to escort patients to and from the operatory. Work Environment: Standard dental environment in a multi-discipline educational stetting. Licenses/Certifications: Michigan Radiology Certification Required. CPR Certification, or attainable within 90 days. Open Date: 03/20/2020 Salary/Pay Information: $13.88/hour minimum Anticipated Schedule: 40 hours/week. Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm.
