Position Number: 311250000.01201.190301 School/College: School of Medicine Job Description: The Department of Radiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking a radiologist to join the cardiopulmonary imaging section. The UAB Department of Radiology consists of 109 faculty members, including 17 physicists and PhD researchers. The cardiopulmonary section has eight faculty members. There are 30 diagnostic radiology residents and six integrated interventional radiology residents. UAB is a state-of-the-art Academic Medical Center with a busy quaternary care clinical service consisting of eight dedicated cardiopulmonary radiologists who are responsible for interpreting 145,000 chest radiographs, 25,000 chest CTs, 600 cardiac MRIs, and >500 cardiac CTs annually, in addition to performing approximately 100 thoracic interventional procedures. State-of-the art imaging equipment includes thirteen CT units (including one DS FORCE Siemen, three 256 detector Philips and One GE Revolution 256 dual energy machines) and ten MR scanners, as well as fixed and mobile digital radiographic and fluoroscopic units. Our Advanced Imaging Facility operates two time-of-flight GE 710 PET/CT scanners and a TR-24 cyclotron, and a GE PET/MRI. A dedicated lab provides support for 3D imaging. Imaging viewing and interpretation are done via Philips IntelliSpace PACS and Nuance PowerScribe voice recognition software. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills in both thoracic and cardiac imaging and interested in actively participating in teaching and research activities of the section as well as interest in collaboration with other departments. Qualified applicants should be ABR-certified or eligible, have completed fellowship training in cardiopulmonary imaging or have proficient experience in cardiopulmonary radiology, and must be eligible to practice medicine in Alabama.
