Department: IT Infrastructure Services Employment Type: Full Time Job Category: Professional Administrative Major Work Characteristics : Performs overall maintenance and development of the information security program to enhance information security posture; gathers information from multiple sources and interprets the potential impact or risk given the context of the intelligence; reviews, tests, and implements technology to enhance network and digital communications protection. Interacts with various departments to establish solutions that minimally affect a user's experience while maintaining the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of systems and data. Assists with the engineering, development, maintenance, and repairs to network infrastructure and its monitoring and maintenance components. Implements technical aspects of risk management and technical projects and/or process development. Advises mid-level management on technical aspects of the strategic network planning process. Coordinates efforts of technicians; mentors, coaches, and guides the team to stay motivated and accomplish tasks; sets goals and measures performance of technicians. Performs industry research and maintains extensive knowledge of relevant security and networking technologies, industry best practices, tools, procedures, and protocols. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and two years of related information security experience; working knowledge of common software applications and operating systems; ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written to all students, faculty, and staff regardless of their technical ability; excellent organizational and time management skills along with the ability to prioritize tasks based on risk; exhibit self-motivation and the ability to work with minimal supervision; interest and ability to maintain and enhance technical ability; solid understanding of core security concepts and attack vectors such as integrity, confidentiality, availability, encryption, malware, phishing, risk assessments, cloud storage, etc. Desired Qualifications: Master's degree and security related industry certification(s); experience with SOC 2 reports and independent security reviews; use of security tools and resources; firewall and network security concepts; strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to understand new technology and create meaningful suggestions based on the positive impact the technology has to the overall vision of the program; ability to think asymmetrically when faced with challenges in order to arrive at multiple solutions occasionally under stress and with limited time.
