Department VICE PRES INFORMATION TECHNLGY (UA-VPIT-IUKOA) Job Summary This internship with UITS Kokomo will assist with Advanced Visualization development for the IU Kokomo IQ Wall, for the UITS Kokomo Web Services Team. This internship will expose the student to uploading and managing IQ Wall content, including text, images, and/or video, for the digital display wall on the IU Kokomo campus. The intern will have the opportunity to make a substantial contribution to development of the default visualization display application, which is displayed whenever the IQ Wall is not in active use. In addition, the student would be afforded the opportunity to discuss and analyze emerging technologies in a professional environment outside the classroom, as well as work with technical and functional stakeholders of the campus. This internship would be appropriate for students with an interest in Data Science, Data Visualization, Computer Science, Programming, Informatics, User Experience, Human Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, and/or New Media. Description of duties: - Work with Web Services Team to load and manage IQ Wall content in the IU Web Framework.
- Ensure the information architecture is user friendly and tailored to the audience.
- Have exposure to modern web development techniques and graphic design.
- Update and/or create digital display wall software.
- Leverage IU Web Content Management System (WCMS).
- Apply IU Brand and Web Style Guide.
Required Qualifications Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University. Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information. Good organizational and time management skills. Preferred Qualifications Excellent understanding of data visualization and graphic design best practices. Exposure to Cascade Server or other Web Content Management System software platforms. Familiarity with basic grammar and style. Familiarity with basic Photoshop tasks such as cropping and resizing images. Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and/or PHP coding. Familiarity with Windows application development. Familiarity with creating/maintaining visualizations of data sets appropriate for oversized visual displays (maps, statistics, word clouds, and others).
