Main Duties and Responsibilities: Dental Assistants in the School of Dentistry provide chair side assistance to undergraduate students, residents, dental therapy and dental hygiene students and faculty as directed. -Prepare and maintain instruments for assigned operatories. -Direct students in the process of Dental Assisting utilization. -Assist students with set up and take down. -Responsible for daily, weekly, monthly maintenance of cubicles and radiographic areas as assigned. -Stocking and maintaining supplies. -Expose digital radiographs. -Assist in a variety of clinic areas as assigned. -Demonstrates knowledge of emergency procedures and equipment. -Mentors Dental Assisting externs in clinic areas. - Other duties as assigned
Hours of work may vary each day or week depending on location of work for that time. A normal day in most clinics would be working 7:45-4:30, but shifts may require an earlier or later start or end of a shift as directed by the supervisor.

Hourly Salary Range: $22.56 to $28.22 USD/hour
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: (must be documented on application materials)
Graduation from an accredited dental assisting course
Certified as a dental assistant (DANB). *Trainee option below
Current State of Minnesota Dental Assistant License. *New Graduate/Trainee option below
Current CPR Certification.
Chairside experience in General Dentistry and knowledge of dental procedures.
Must be able to multi task and adapt to changing work environment and work responsibilities.
Demonstrated/documented knowledge of digital radiography and its use.
Successful experience providing dental care to a diverse patient base.
* New Graduate/Trainee option:
New graduates who are offered a Dental Assistant position at the School of Dentistry are hired with the expectation of State of Minnesota Licensure** is obtained within 4 months of hire.
** State of Minnesota Licensure requires Minnesota Jurisprudence Exam, Dental Assistant Licensure Exam and Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) Exam to apply for licensure.
Licensed Dental Assistants without DANB certification are encouraged to apply with expectation that DANB certification is obtained within 3 months of hire.
Please note that knowledge or experience in General Dentistry and of knowledge of some dental procedures is required. A possible phone/in person interview may be required to determine if an applicant has obtained the qualifications for the role.
At least one year experience as a Dental Assistant working in a dental office or clinic.
Experience in an academic institution or in training or teaching others such as Dental Assistant externs/interns, DDS, DH and DT students.
Experience in a busy Dental Clinic or practice atmosphere with multiple providers.
Ability to work with a variety of faculty, staff, residents and students and promote a respectful work place.
Experience demonstrating rubber dam/placement, assist in fabrication of impressions, and proper usage of dental cements/materials.
Experience in all areas of General Dentistry, to include: Prosthodontics, Periodontics, Radiology, Urgent Care, Pediatrics, Endodontics, Oral Surgery, and Implant Dentistry.
Demonstrates a working knowledge of current dental procedures and materials
Broad experience with knowledge of procedures and in all areas of Dentistry.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work well in a team setting
