As a Digital Maintenance Specialist at Husky, you will be responsible for implementing, maintaining and improving the operational uptime of systems through expanded PPM programs. The Digital Maintenance Specialist will also develop and implement automation solutions that reduce labour content, increase consistency, increase quality and provide tactical support of existing automation.
Data Mining, Interpretation and Analysis;
Understand the design intent and work with the platform team to support with the implementation and maintenance of software solutions that are stable, performant and well-documented.
Understand data flows within the digital solution to identify potential breakdowns or discrepancies and share relevant information.
Assist with improving data accuracy, relevancy and collection methods. Utilize analytic skills to interpret the machine data, equipment uptime data, monitor internal temp of building etc.
Complete data mining and develop tools for an effective predictive maintenance program.
Identify data flow breakdowns based on an understanding of digital connectivity to ensure that data is complete, accurate and credible.
Complete a variety of analyses (i.e. vibration and heat analysis) and use and interpret data and analytics to proactively detect equipment or machine failures and identify corrective action/cost savings.
Maintain inputs and outputs of systems.
Monitor and participate in ensuring all Key Performance Indicators (Safety, Quality and Productivity) are being achieved.
Design, Programming/Implementation and Troubleshooting of Software Solutions;
Work collaboratively with the platform team to understand how the software architecture works, and plan, design and develop solutions to team goals.
Work collaboratively with team members from other parts of the business to identify opportunities for the application of automation.
Provide end-user support for the existing portfolio of design automation.
Work closely with integrators to support the integration of advanced technologies and ensure we are fully partnered on any solutions put in place.
Inspect identified issues and generates multiple hypothesis, using a methodical approach, to issues/problems that arise and helps drive appropriate corrective actions.
Troubleshoot software (and electrical and electronic control systems issues as required), provide detailed/recommended corrective action and identify potential risks to similar processes.
Repair, exchange and restart software (as necessary).
Able to close the information loop across machines / facilities to enhance preventative maintenance standard operating procedures.
Solve problems / recognize opportunities with other teams as required.
Solve problems relative to diagnostic software.
Identify opportunities to improve the maintenance strategy and provide recommendations to Maintenance Team Leaders.
Lead troubleshooting by identifying root cause of issues and qualifying corrective actions across processes, relevant to the individual’s scope of responsibility.
Assist in the programming of new equipment within a 24/7 manufacturing environment (Including auxiliary equipment) as required.
Contributes to the implementation of new digital capabilities relevant to the team, accounting for implications to existing processes and data requirements throughout.
Liaise with suppliers and direct sub-trades.
Follow EH&S guidelines and standards in all activities, suggesting improvements when possible.
Provide Leadership, support and mentorship;
Provide leadership, mentoring and training to team members.
Lead the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives by applying lean methodologies
Creates opportunities for collaboration and open communication across individuals and teams.
Applies generic concepts or approaches to different products or businesses to build the closed-loop feedback mechanism by sharing knowledge across multiple products and businesses (e.g. ability to work from Model to Steel, Steel to Plastic and Plastic to Production).
Contribute to the definition and improvement of Husky Quality and Maintenance standards.
Collaborate with teammates globally to overcome tactical hurdles, formulate team strategy, and to ensure alignment.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Design, Automation, Industrial Engineering or college equivalent.
Masters License in relevant trade is an asset.
1-2 years of mechanical design experience using CAD is considered an asset
Relevant work experience with automated equipment in a CNC Environment is an asset, however, ongoing training and mentoring will be provided.
Some software development experience with any language is required
Software development experience using C# and C++ is an asset
Experience with NX-Open API programming is an asset
Experience with relational database design, data modeling, and T-SQL programming is preferred
Experience with one or more of the following technologies is considered an asset: Angular, Breeze, Entity Framework, ASP.NET Web API, HTML5, CSS3
Ability to elicit, analyze, organize, translate, simplify, and document business requirements.
Ability to support in the implementation of software solutions that are stable, performant, well-documented, and easily maintained
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English

Basic understanding of coding;
Basic understanding of PLC programing - Structured Text (IEC 61131) Beckhoff
Basic understanding of Fanuc robotic coding
WinCC (Siemens and C programming language – Bolton only)
Basic understanding of Kuka AGV programing (Java)
Able to update software versions as necessary including the ability to revert to previous versions.
Able to define and standardize preventative and predictive maintenance.
Able to demonstrate EH&S principles.
