Learning Innovation & Technology is seeking a full-time Instructional Designer (ID) to join a dynamic team to foster innovation in teaching and to enhance student learning in face to face, hybrid, and online courses. IDs build positive working relationships with faculty one-on-one, in small groups, and at the department level to guide application of course design best practices, active learning strategies, meaningful adoption of the learning management system, and academic technology. IDs are also responsible for building and leveraging expertise in academic technology tools while keeping a pulse on emerging technologies and teaching practices for 21st Century learners.Highlights of core work include:Educate and assist faculty in transitioning courses to a new learning management system, ensuring courses include Universal Design for Learning principles and are fully accessible.Guide faculty in the appropriate use of the learning management system and academic technology tools to foster active learning and achievement of course goals.Develop and perform quality assurance checks for online and hybrid courses working with faculty subject matter experts in support of certificate, undergraduate, and graduate programs.Required Qualifications:Bachelor degree in education, instructional design, instructional technology or teaching related discipline. Strong knowledge in and 1- 3 years experience working as an instructional designer or part of an educational role, including: experience authoring in a learning management system (for example: Blackboard, Canvas, Brightspace); demonstrated knowledge of developing materials using a universal design approach; appropriate integration of multi-media, academic technology, collaboration tools, and accessible digital learning materials. Knowledge of current and emerging instructional design methodologies with a good understanding of online pedagogy/learning theories and instructional design models. Open minded and flexible with strong collaboration, relationship building, influence, and project management skills. Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment with customer service orientation and the ability to solve problems with creativity and flexibility.Demonstrated ability to collaborate with faculty, build relationships, and influence teaching and learning strategies. Effectively conveys and receives ideas, information and directions. Listens actively and seeks to clarify and confirm the accuracy of their understanding. Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.Prioritizes and plans work using time effectively, meets deadlines, and follows through on commitments. Identifies, solves, and escalates problems in a timely manner. Works with others to achieve desired results by contributing to team projects, exchanging ideas and opinions, resolving conflicts, developing positive working relationships. Identifies and responds quickly and effectively to customer needs, goes beyond what?s expected and follows up to ensure customer satisfaction.Preferred Qualifications:Master degree in education, instructional design, or teaching related discipline with 4 or more years working as an instructional designer. Experience in a higher education setting. Experience transitioning between course management systems, online learning course development (Quality Matters a plus), extensive experience with multi-media authoring tools, collaboration tools, and accessible digital learning materials. Strong understanding of active and inclusive learning theories, assessment, and approaches to hybrid/online learning. Experience with STEAM teaching methods and strategies a plus. Demonstrated ability to be open minded and flexible with excellent collaboration, relationship building, influence, and project management skills.
