The IT Business Analyst III is responsible for performing business analysis and conceptual solution design of medium to large sized, moderately to highly complex IT projects. Collaborates with leaders, subject matter experts, end users and technical staff to identify and understand business needs, design possible technology solutions and help implement and transition chosen solutions. Elicits and documents business requirements and creates appropriate business analysis documentation artifacts for both technical and non-technical audiences. Performs directed assessments of new or changing processes and technologies. Creates and updates standard procedures for application management and support.
1.Business Analysis – Conduct in-depth business analysis on medium to large-sized, moderately to highly complex projects including but not limited to: SWOT analysis, cost benefit analysis, return on investment, feature/gap analysis, feasibility analysis, business case development. Facilitate business process redesign, modeling and documentation as needed for new technology. Facilitate planning and organizing hardware and software vendor RFI’s and RFP’s. Develop and document test plans. Ensure testing strategies involve appropriate integration and process components. Assist client with executing the test plans and providing sign-off to project manager. 2.Solution Analysis and Design – Analyze moderate to highly complex IT project proposals. Conduct discovery meetings with clients. Facilitate architectural design. Research technical solutions, consult with peer institutions and conduct vendor discovery and reference checks. Develop and document functional and technical requirements working with IT professionals, subject matter experts, and clients. Negotiate requirements across stakeholder teams and design alternative solutions. Work with IT resource managers and service owners to estimate effort and costs of alternatives. Summarize and present alternative solutions, associated costs and recommendations to decision makers ranging up to senior executives. 3.Leadership & Mentoring – Lead the development and adoption of shared business analysis principles, processes, and methodologies across the organization. Coach and mentor less experienced team members on practices, standards and other relevant staff development matters. Collaborate with management to ensure internal processes are being properly identified, tracked, planned and documented to improve solution delivery strategies. Generate appropriate communication, process and educational plans for mitigating change disruption. Help lead project to product/service/operations transition efforts. 4.Other duties as assigned
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 6 – 8 years of professional experience in IT Business Analysis or related field.
Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of business analysis theories, concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in complex, difficult and/or unprecedented situations
Experience with business capability analysis
Broad understanding of information systems and technologies and how those enable business outcomes
Working knowledge of Agile methodologies
Working knowledge of IIBA practices
Experience and comfort working in a shared governance model and engaging with, and eliciting requirements from, executives in higher education
Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) ITIL v4 Foundations Certification
