King University is accepting applications for a full-time faculty member for a dual appointment position serving both the new Master of Social Work (MSW) and established Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) programs. The primary appointment will be in the fully online MSW program. King University faculty members work collaboratively to provide high quality academic experiences for students in a supportive, Christ-centered environment, with an alliance in student advising with the academic team to ensure that students have the assistance, tools, and resources needed to be successful as they move toward their educational and professional goals. This is a full-time, twelve-month position to start fall 2021. Telecommuting is an option with this position.
Responsibilities: • Provide leadership, supervision, mentorship, and MSW/BSW course instruction • Be able to collaborate in the writing of the self-study for accreditation through the CSWE • Be engaged in ongoing and new program development efforts • Be familiar with the 2015 CSWE EPAS • Teach in online format • Effectively utilize technology as part of both the teaching and administrative functions of this position • Design courses, as necessary • Serve on academic and program committees • Evaluate student learning and field requirements congruent with Social Work competencies • Demonstrate active scholarly interests in issues of diversity, social justice, and trauma-informed care • Have the ability to speak to individuals and groups regarding recruitment efforts and teaching • Engage in the Social Work club (Social Work Action Group) and honor society (Chi Omega) • Engage in the Social Work Advisory Board • Assist with updates/maintenance of the Social Work social media pages, as necessary • Assist with updates/maintenance of the MSW/BSW Student Handbook / Field Education Manual, as necessary • Successfully maintain and develop relationships with new and existing field agency partners. • Work closely with the MSW/BSW Program Coordinators, Field Education Directors, and Social Work faculty on matters pertaining to field education, accreditation, and general program maintenance • Report directly to the MSW Program Coordinator and the Dean of the School of Health and Professional Sciences.
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must hold a minimum of a MSW from a CSWE-accredited college/university and a minimum of 2-years of direct practice experience post–MSW degree. The PhD in Social Work is preferred. Experience with and practice in trauma-informed care is a plus. A commitment to advising and mentoring students and a dedication to continuing professional development are essential. Furthermore, applicants must submit a profession of Christian faith. Applicants must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, effective oral and written communication skills, competence in the usage of technology and proficiency in utility of the APA style (latest edition).
Preferred Qualifications: • Experience in teaching and curriculum development at the higher education level, • Experience writing/developing a CSWE self-study for accreditation, • Knowledge of the 2015 EPAS, and • Academic administrative experience. The preferred candidate will also possess excellent verbal, digital communication, and technological skills, including proficiency with the LMS (Canvas), facility with online communication platforms such as Zoom, Google apps, etc. Candidate must be well-organized. The PhD in Social Work is preferred.
