Charlotte Latin School has an immediate need for an Upper School Engineering Teacher. The Upper School Engineering Teacher is a part of the Innovation and Design Department and teaches digital Fabrication classes in our Fab Lab. Ideal candidates will be able to teach across a variety of digital fabrication and programming classes as well as maintain and repair Fab Lab equipment.
Charlotte Latin has been teaching engineering and programming since 1989 and is a recognized leader in STEM education. Charlotte Latin’s Innovation and Design Department believes that students learn best by doing. We focus on hands-on, minds-on learning by designing and making digital fabrication projects. Our high school program is modeled after Fab Academy, a program started by Dr. Neil Gershenfeld of MIT. Charlotte Latin’s Fab Lab is part of the Fab Foundation and is the only Fab Lab in the world that focuses on high school students and high school educators participating in Fab Academy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Teach digital Fabrication classes
Help maintain and repair equipment
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree required; Computer Science or Engineering degree preferred
1 year’s experience required; 3+ preferred
Fab Academy graduate preferred
Love of teaching
Ability to remain current in ever changing Field
Ability to maintain the Fab Lab
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet multiple deadlines
Collaborative team member
Strong verbal communications skills
