Professional Technologist 4 - HSC Information Technologist 15747 Description The HSC Information Technology Services at West Virginia Univeristy is seeking applications for a Professional Technologist 4. This position is responsible for providing professional level networking support and expertise to the Director of Network & Voice Services and to the Assistant Director of Network Systems in support of the Health Sciences Center Campus Network including academic and clinical environments at our Morgantown, Morgantown offsite locations, Charleston, and Martinsburg campuses. In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will: -
Provide professional level networking support and expertise. -
Provide professional level support for the HSC Research Environment, including design, development, and implementation. Includes storage, VDI and research related applications (SAS, SPSS, etc.). -
Design, implement and maintain a virtual desktop environment for both research, academic and remote workers. VMWare Horizon View and Windows Virtual Desktop pools, public and private virtual networks, application availability and deployment, and resource monitoring. -
Design, implement, and maintain backup solution for all HSC servers. -
Design, implement and maintain disaster site recovery solution for rapid failover of datacenter. -
Implement, manage, and maintain SAN solution for interconnection with MS, Unix, Linux servers. -
Lead in the design, development, implementation, and support of the HSC Campus network supporting central groupware/file/print/applications services in academic and clinical environments at all HSC campuses. -
Provide primary support to HSC's ESX/VMware environment which supports the MS file/print/application servers and the VDI environment. -
Manages desktop keyboard emergency alert system for the HSC enterprise -
Administer and support virtual desktop infrastructure environment -
Design, implement and manage desktop and laptop device encryption using MBAM/SCCM for PC and JAMF for Mac -
Lead, supervise, and train lower level Professional Technologist and/or classified staff, or students, and/or provide technical project management. On call 24x7x365 to respond to all network system emergencies. Responds to calls initiated from network monitoring systems and after-hour calls from the Director. Required to work non-peak, after normal business hours to complete network maintenance, upgrades, and repairs. Qualifications -
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Electronics, Engineering,Telecommunications or related field. Master's degree preferred. -
An equivalent combination of education, certifications, and work experience accepted. -
Five (5) years experience: -
Experience with UNIX operating systems. -
Experience installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Exchange and MS Active Directory systems. -
Experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting wide area network server connections and services. -
Experience with installation and administration of Storage Area Networks, synchronization software services, and virtual environments including VMware, Horizon View, Azure and Windows Virtual Desktop. -
Experience installing, configuring and managing research related apps, such as SAS, SPSS, R Studio, etc. -
Experience and ability to interoperate multiplatform systems and environments over local and wide area networks. -
Experience with installation, management, administration of SCCM and integrated Intune. -
Experience troubleshooting Network servers through use of network management tools. -
Experience configuring and maintaining high-end / high availability network hardware such as groupware/file/print/application/video servers and backup systems. -
Experience with network security and network management tools. -
Experience with Server/workstation Backup technologies and solutions. -
Experience installing, configuring DNS/DHCP and managing IP address space (private and public addresses). -
Experience as a PC and Macintosh consultant in the areas of hardware/software installation and troubleshooting in a standalone as well as a networked environment. -
Demonstrated experience in programming languages such as C, Visual Basic, PHP, Bash, Perl and PowerShell scripting. -
Programming skills required for data manipulation, troubleshooting, increased productivity, and efficiency. Requirements - Incumbent must be/become a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer. Other certifications such as A+, Network +, MCP, Cisco, and UNIX preferred.
