Reporting into the team Director, you will be mainly responsible for supporting the teams' expertise and knowledge in broad areas of climate change relevant to the bank's activities. What will you be doing?
You'll support the team in investigating third-party existing and emerging frameworks, methodologies and tools used to assess climate change impacts in the financial sector
You'll assist the Senior Manager in ensuring the bank's full adoption of the FSB's TCFD (Financial Stability Board's Task Force for Climate Related Disclosures) recommendations
Supporting the team in closely following market developments with regards to industry and sector de-carbonisation topics
Assisting the Senior Manager on sustainability matters and support in governmental and regulatory initiatives
You will support the teams work on transaction reviews – conducting research on specific clients relating to live transactions and referrals, and provide the relevant advice
Contributing to and supporting colleagues in policy position development and training across the range of environmental and social issues linked to the banks' activities
Supporting team colleagues where necessary with responses to public campaigns (typically NGO-led) or specific enquiries from investors, customers and investors
Attending external events/conferences/seminars on sustainability topics relevant to Barclays and the individual's role and to develop contacts and subject matter expertise
What we're looking for:
Experience of working in either financial services or in a role or industry with climate change relevance
Knowledge of and/or experience in sustainability issues and relevant frameworks where appropriate
Proven experience in role requiring or educational qualifications demonstrating strong technical and analytical thinking skills
Strong stakeholder management skills, with excellent written and verbal communication
Skills that will help you in the role:
Technical knowledge of climate change related frameworks & methodologies or climate scenario analysis, climate transition considerations
Previous experience in large global institution (financial services or corporate) with ESG and sustainability experience.
