Dance Place, a nationally recognized cultural arts center in Washington, DC, seeks a full-time Digital Content and Social Media Associate to support and enhance Dance Place’s digital presence. This is a 35 hour per week, salaried, year-round position with benefits. Work hours are generally weekdays between 10 am and 6 pm, with work on weekends and evenings for special events.

Title: Digital Content and Social Media Associate
Number of hours per week: 35
Immediate supervisor: Communications Manager
The Digital Content and Social Media Associate works to create comprehensive programmatic and institutional marketing for all of Dance Place’s programs, taking the lead to conceptualize and create original content, as well as design and implement a social media strategy in alignment with Dance Place’s mission, values, and branding. The Digital Content and Social Media Associate plays an important role in communicating the work of Dance Place to a broad range of communities, including youth and adult dance class students and their families, artists, audiences, and neighbors. This work should sustain and expand Dance Place’s audience, student, and donor base.
Responsibilities include but aren’t limited to:
Develop an overview of Dance Place’s social media strategy in coordination with Communications Manager
Coordinate calendar of regular postings to three main platforms with content submissions from Dance Place staff and artists, alongside original content
Research latest trends in the field, track and review data metrics to improve effective strategies
Produce and report on institutional advertising campaigns to raise brand awareness.
Original Content Creation
Collaborate with Communications Manager to create original graphics, photos, and videos for digital and printed media
Collaborate with Communications Manager to create branding elements for each season to be used in marketing materials and by other staff
Film and edit original video content to promote upcoming events and archive past events
Work with resident companies and artists-in-residence for photography and video needs (company photoshoots, company video shoots, editing reels, etc)
Facilitate increased interaction with participants – artists, patrons, and students – in the form of interviews, featured content, etc.
Support community engagement activities through robust social media content creation (video and photo)
Document Dance Place’s presence (video and photo) at select public speaking engagements
Document community events through photography or video
Contribute to, and give feedback on design projects, including marketing efforts such as postcards, fliers, signage, fundraising needs, etc.
Assist with live streaming needs for virtual events in coordination with Dance Place’s Production staff
Strong interpersonal communication skills
Experience in capturing/documenting live events (both photo and video)
Experience with live streaming platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, Instagram Live
Proficiency in Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom, After Effects
Attention to detail with excellent time management skills
Ability to work autonomously and in teams in a fast-paced environment
Highly organized and creative with a deep enthusiasm for the arts
