Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey is seeking a motivated Part Time Research Teaching Specialist III for the Department of Infectious Diseases within the New Jersey Medical School.
The primary purpose of the part-time Research Teaching Specialist III position, is to coordinate clinical and translational research studies in Mycobacterium tuberculosis and COVID-19 under the guidance of the Principal Investigator. The work will span across implementation and analysis of domestic and international research studies with clinical, epidemiologic, laboratory, imaging and machine components, as well as project management and activities to grow and advance the scientific program. We are looking for a highly-motivated, proactive, and collaborative individual who enjoys critical thinking, to conduct this work under mentorship and training of Dr Xie and her team.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Assist Principal Investigator with overall management of research activities/operations and assuring that research projects are on task.
Develop and implement research protocols, including IRB protocols and SOPs.
Contributes to study design, conceptualization, and writing proposals.
Liaisons with domestic and international research sites and research collaborators.
Assist Principal Investigator with coordinating shipping, processing, and testing of clinical specimens from tuberculosis and COVID-19 patients.
Assist with data analysis and manuscript preparation for publication of data generated.
Participates in the evaluation of the existing procedures, suggesting revisions where necessary and proposing new procedures where required.
As required, assists in the implementation of the programs and projects in special areas of interest to the department.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master’s Degree in biomedical, public health/epidemiology, or biologic data science related field, plus one (1) year of experience or a Bachelor’s Degree plus two years of experience with biomedical or epidemiologic research involving human subjects.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Candidates should have familiarity with biostatistical analysis, basic laboratory knowledge, and excellent oral and written communication skills.
Advanced knowledge/skills in data sciences (machine learning, informatics) or laboratory sciences (molecular assays) is a plus.
