Position Summary: In support of Harvard's University-wide diversity, inclusion, and belonging vision and priorities, the Senior Strategy Officer- Outreach and Engagement, will lead the development of a marketing and engagement strategy for ODIB, with a focus on community outreach, project planning, content strategy, and production, including the development of communications plans, content packages/materials, web, and social media. The Senior Strategy Officer- Outreach and Engagement, will lead the development and implementation of ODIB's overarching marketing and outreach strategy, manage a strategy to effectively communicate and engage with ODIB's diverse constituents, and convey planning, goals, progress, accomplishments to stakeholders and campus partners. This will work to deliver the strategy, planning, development, and execution of DIB activities that support and amplify the ideas and efforts generated by our community of students, faculty, post-docs, and staff. The position is also responsible for delivering high-quality creative outreach strategies as well as developing and distributing engaging, multi-media content.
Reporting to the Assistant Director in the ODIB, this position will work closely with administrative partners across the University with the goal to achieve sustainable inclusive excellence by fostering a campus culture where everyone can thrive. The Senior Strategy Officer- Outreach and Engagement, will work collaboratively with colleagues at ODIB, as well as in partnership with Harvard Public Affairs and Communications (HPAC) to improve awareness of the University's commitment to diversity, inclusion & belonging, proactively surface/highlight DIB best practices from schools/units, and work with stakeholders (administrators, students, post-docs, and faculty) to help articulate the importance initiatives in advancing DIB across communities at Harvard.
Develop, execute and maintain an outreach and engagement strategy designed to drive ODIB's narrative through creative and engaging storytelling via multiple platforms (digital and print) to a range of stakeholders (internal and external).
Develop and maintain an annual marketing strategy that aligns with the priorities and strategic goals of ODIB and Harvard's broader DIB agenda.
Translate research into action with case studies, stories, and other media forms.
Supervise the dissemination of timely information, with an emphasis on connecting with the Harvard community.
Ensure accurate, consistent, and timely information across all communications channels.
Work with internal customers across all Schools and units.
Manage interns and external consultant assignments as needed to assure relevance, consistency, and timely completion of projects.
Create, implement, and manage the ODIB social media strategy and content.
Identify, measure, and report key metrics to evaluate the impact and success of communications and marketing strategies and activities; make evidence-based recommendations on next-level communications goals and strategies.
Lead development and maintenance of various marketing and communications materials in conjunction with ODIB senior leadership, including strategic memos and briefings, websites, brochures, events promotion, PowerPoint presentations, talking points, and annual reports in support of the communications strategy.
Write, edit, produce, and coordinate material for the ODIB website, monthly newsletter, senior leadership updates, and other relevant priorities.
Oversee ODIB website strategic vision, priorities as well as website management including content organization, creating, reviewing, and posting content for updates as well as overseeing consultants (as needed) related to website and graphic design.
Manage and prepare DIB reporting including annual internal and external reporting and other DIB rankings and awards.
Support central administration and Schools to develop in-house communications (e.g., brochures, flyers, posters, templates, and signage) as needed for various projects, programs, and DIB initiatives. This could include leading, co-leading, and/or serving as a member of broader Harvard working groups, committees, and implementation teams for projects and initiatives that are focused on and related to DIBE
Write, edit, create, and/or coordinate the production of DIB communications and related content.
Generate, coordinate, and edit content suitable for delivery through a variety of media (email, web, mobile).
Serve as the primary communications contact for Harvard's Office for Diversity Inclusion and Belonging and support planning, execution, and collaboration with colleagues on Harvard-wide diversity, inclusion, and belonging related communications.
Liaise with HPAC media relations team as necessary; work closely with ODIB senior management and HPAC on message development.
Manage other projects and programs, as needed.

Candidates MUST meet the following basic qualifications in order to be considered for this role:
Bachelor's degree required.
A minimum of seven (7) years of communications experience - including communications strategic planning, writing, editing, graphical, web, social media content production.
Strong understanding and commitment to diversity, inclusion, belonging, and equity issues.
Strong knowledge and experience deploying effective digital, social, and online strategies and overseeing website strategy and development.
Computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat tools, knowledge of web design tools such as open scholar, WordPress.
Demonstrated experience writing and editing for print and digital publications.
Understanding of integrated marketing communications, strategy development, and implementation across a diverse population
Highly adept at translating complex information into relevant and understandable communications for multiple audiences.
Skilled at diplomatically and successfully achieving goals in a complex, matrixed environment.
Ability to manage projects, from conception to implementation with a proven record of creating project plans with deadlines and aggressive timetables for implementation and review of materials.
Experience working with outside vendors and consultants, including the ability to set project milestones and keep internal and external team members on time and on budget.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with proven project management abilities and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and across departments.
Graphic design skills and experience with desktop publishing a plus
