The Sections and Divisions Manager provides oversight and strategic support to twenty-four (24) substantive law sections and six (6) divisions and their volunteer leaders. These substantive law sections and career divisions represent special areas of practice and each is led by a group of voluntary members. The Sections and Divisions Manager serves as the staff liaison to the Sections and Divisions Council and works closely with the volunteer council chair.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide strategic administrative support to sections and divisions to ensure that they are consistently providing meaningful benefits and programming to their members and that annual work plans and budgets are completed and executed
Serve as the staff liaison between the Sections and Divisions Council and the national office.
Provide guidance and administrative support regarding governance of sections and divisions, including, but not limited to, annual review of sections and divisions bylaws to confirm alignment with FBA Constitution and Bylaws; review of sections and divisions operations and procedures to ensure compliance with FBA governing documents and policies and sections and divisions bylaws; and execution of annual election procedures in compliance with sections and divisions bylaws
Manage administrative procedures for section and division finances, including, but not limited to, reimbursement approvals and processing and review and distribution of quarterly statements of activities.
Oversee the logistics, registration, marketing/communication, call for presentations, and volunteer management for section and division events and webinars
Coordinate with Communications Director for content opportunities related to sections and divisions
Work with the Sr. Director of Professional Development to develop budgets for funded divisions, in conjunction with the FBA’s budget
Collaborate with the Director of Membership to create and execute section and division membership recruitment and engagement campaigns and oversee membership procedures for sections and divisions, including, but not limited to, distributing section and division membership reports and maintaining accurate leadership rosters in the membership database
Ensure accurate maintenance of section and division webpages and calendar events
Assist the Sr. Director of Professional Development and Executive Director with the creation of policies and procedures related to governance of sections and divisions
Collaborate with member volunteers and staff to develop and execute section and division training and business programming during the organization’s Leadership Training and Annual Meeting.
Attend section and division board/steering committee meetings
Work with the Programs Coordinator to execute section and division awards programs
Periodic travel required by air, rail or automobile, whichever suit the needs of the business
The qualifications and skills needed for this position are as follows:
At least five (5) years of association experience working with Executive, Board, and Leadership volunteers
Experience with governance procedures including election, bylaw, and policy administration and compliance
Understanding of finances as it relates to nonprofits
Attention to detail and strong organization skills
Ability to multi-task
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, Microsoft Teams, and Adobe Acrobat
Excellent interpersonal skills and written/oral communication skills
Commitment to excellent customer/member service
Self-motivation and flexibility
The ability to work in a “team” environment across departmental groups as well as autonomously
Experience with online webinar software platforms a plus
Must be able to travel and work occasional weekends to attend events and other off-site functions when applicable
