Reports to Senior Vice President – Corporate Communications
Mission/Purpose of the Job
To promote the profitable growth of Mack Trucks and Volvo Trucks North America by leading strategic internal communications, with an aim to build internal understanding of and engagement with our brands’ business strategies, performance, opportunities and challenges, and values. This position will actively reinforce our corporate culture through company-wide employee communications across multiple communication channels, including new and emerging technologies. Must be able to simultaneously manage, coordinate and execute a number of complex internal communications projects within stringent timelines and budget parameters.
Development and implementation of internal communications and employee-engagement strategies for Mack Trucks and Volvo Trucks North America, utilizing various forms of communication that meet or exceed related objectives
Development of written, illustrative, video and online content, crafted in concert with direct reports and key subject-matter experts
Development, oversight and ongoing enhancement of internal communications channels, including employee intranet platform, digital information boards, electronic newsletters, video news briefs, and a comprehensive program of live or pre-recorded, in-person or virtual management meetings, employee town halls, etc.
Executive communications support, including coaching, speeches and presentation development
Measurement and tracking of internal communications effectiveness
Act as liaison to internal communications functions/networks at Volvo Group (global and site/regional) and Volvo Trucks (global)
Lead and coach several direct reports who are responsible for fielding a continuous flow of communications requests from several internal stakeholders
Contribute as needed to other corporate communications functions
Superior written, oral and digital communication skills, possessing the ability to create compelling messages that provide all levels of employees with a clear line of sight to the business strategy
Ability to identify and analyze business and audience needs to deliver messages via the most appropriate mix of channels
Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills
Strategic thinking, planning, and plan execution
Ability to manage a number of projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing work on a daily basis; workload may require working extended hours, as necessary
A coach-style leader with demonstrated success managing teams internally and external resources, who also embraces being a team player within a larger function
Exceptional judgment, with a balance of confidence, refinement and high energy, to enable successful outcomes in a variety of diverse circumstances
Experience interacting with top management
Essential Educational and/or Training Qualifications and Certificates:
•Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or related field of study, or comparable experience.
Microsoft Office 365 experience and skills.
Familiarity with graphics software to create presentations for a variety of audiences.
Preferred Experience and Knowledge
10+ years’ work experience in a corporate communications or related discipline
5+ years’ supervisory experience.
Knowledge of multi-media, technical or broadcast project management a plus.
