Palm Beach Atlantic University offers a variety of residency programs that prepare you to become servant leaders within the profession of pharmacy. Our programs are designed to provide a solid foundation in patient-centered care in a variety of settings, while focusing on fostering personal and professional leadership. Emphasis within our programs is placed on:
Patient centered care
Our residency program directors and preceptors are dedicated to nurturing resident knowledge, skills, and growth as pharmacy professionals.
PGY 1 Community-based Residency Program:
Our PGY1 community-based residency program provides you with training in an independent community pharmacy that is affiliated with Community Pharmacy Enhanced Service Network (CPESN) where you will provide clinical services. In addition to time at the pharmacy, you will also complete learning experiences in ambulatory care which will occur in primary care clinics. The program is designed to provide opportunities to prepare you for a direct patient care position, to serve as a role model in the advancement of community-based practice, and to enhance leadership skills capable of medication therapy management development that delivers services to optimize patient care.
Your exposure to community-based practice during the program also includes quality improvement projects, service development, and leadership and management development in conjunction to a longitudinal research project. Additionally, you are given an instructor of pharmacy practice appointment within the Gregory School of Pharmacy and are given the option to participate in a teaching and learning curriculum.
PGY 2 Ambulatory Care Residency Program:
Our PGY2 residency in ambulatory care pharmacy provides you the unique opportunity to strengthen your patient care skills in a Veteran’s Affairs (VA) healthcare setting as well as in a community health center. You will spend approximately half of your time within the primary care and specialty clinics of the VA Health System. The remainder of your time is spent in the indigent ambulatory setting as well as in elective experiences, which can occur within the VA Health System or at other local clinics.
You will also be provided opportunities for involvement in research, administration and project management, as well as academia. When you complete our program, you will be prepared to tackle ambulatory care pharmacy through a variety of lenses in both the public and private sectors making you well-equipped to be competitive in the rapidly changing healthcare arena. Additionally, you are given an instructor of pharmacy practice appointment within the Gregory School of Pharmacy and are given the option to participate in a teaching and learning curriculum.
Each program requires the successful completion of PharmD and eligibility for licensure in Florida. These programs do not sponsor visas.
