Essential Functions: The Manager is responsible for providing leadership and coordinating efforts to ensure that McNair Scholars activities and services are conducted according to the McNair Scholars Grant and U.S. Department of Education. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Serve on Federal TRIO, Academic Affairs and Graduate School committees.Develop and manage the Pre-McNair, Undergraduate Research and Graduate School Preparation components of the program.Prepare grant budgets, allocate funding, monitor and track expenditures in compliance with USDOE and Wayne State University policies and procedures.Monitor and evaluate program components and conduct formal program assessments.Prepare data and information for inclusion in Annual Performance Reports for the U.S. Department of Education and WSU Office of Assessment.Recruitment and retention of faculty mentors and student participants.Coordinate the Graduate School Success Strategies Seminar, Undergraduate Research Program and GRE Instruction.Select, Supervise and Evaluate McNair staff in performing the grant related duties and responsibilities.Oversee student travel to McNair Conferences and Graduate School Visitations.Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Doctorate or Master's degree in Educational Leadership, Counseling, Administration, STEM or related field.Minimum 5years of experience designing and managing educational opportunity or TRIO student retention or undergraduate research programs.Demonstrated ability to communicate with students, faculty etc.Demonstrated success in grant writing, fiscal management, staff supervision and assessment.Experience integrating technology with teaching.Ability to work with faculty and advise students on undergraduate research projects Experience teaching research methods and methodology.Ability to assist students in gaining admission to graduate schools and securing assistantships and fellowships.Administrative program/project management experience.Strong Oral and Written Communication Skills.Knowledge of graduate student issues and concerns.Position Reports To: Senior Director, Office of Federal TRIO.
