To lead the Department of Student Governance through advisement of Student Government, Graduate Student Committee, and the UTA Ambassadors.
Responsible for the advisement of Student Government. Including the programs coordinated and sponsored through the organization, such as resolution research, voter registration, outreach initiatives, Maverick Discount program, and Program Assistance Fund. Responsible for the advisement of the UTA Ambassadors. Including the programs coordinated and sponsored through the organization, such as Ask Me Days!, MavSwap, Spirit Week, and the Ambassadors' participation in Homecoming, Parent & Family Weekend, the Maverick Speakers Series, and the promotion of The Maverick Way. Responsible for the overseeing of the communication and marketing of Student Governance. Developing assessment, budgeting and priorities. Including the programs coordinated and sponsored through the organization, such as resolution research and participation in various programs. Provide supervision, training, guidance, evaluation and recognition to one (1) professional staff member, one graduate assistant, and sixteen student employees. Exercise independent decision-making in leading all efforts of the Student Governance department. Responsible for the management of the Student Governance budget. Responsible for the development and implementation of departmental reports including but not limited to: Administrative and Learning Outcomes, Unit Effectiveness Plan, mid-year report, annual report, compliance reports and program assessments. Serve on University committees as recommended by supervisor. Support for the Involvement & Engagement unit programs and perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Master’s degree in higher education, student personnel or related field. Computer literacy with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Creative Suite, and desktop publishing. Experience planning, implementing and evaluating student programs. Ability to utilize independent thinking, judgment, and decision-making skills. Experience working with a diverse population; excellent writing and public speaking skills. Experience in advising student organizations, university judicial theory/practice, student counseling, budget planning and management. Knowledge about student development theory, project management, contract negotiations and event production. Licenses: Class “C” Operator’s Driver’s License. Applicant selected must provide a current three (3) year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver’s License within thirty (30) days after entering Texas as a new resident.
Degree in Higher Education Administration or related field preferred. Five year experience teaching or facilitating student development theory or leadership development. Experience advising student groups, understanding and interpretation of university departments and procedures, as it pertains to advising.
