The Village Animal Clinic is searching for a full-time or part-time associate companion animal veterinarian. We are located in the friendly village of Voorheesville NY, a suburb of Albany, which is a wonderful place to live and raise a family. We are 15 minutes from downtown Albany and also within a short drive to the Adirondack, Green, and Catskill mountains, providing myriad recreational opportunities for the outdoor enthusiast (hiking, cycling, fishing, backpacking, boating, canoeing, kayaking, etc.) Our clinic is a three-hour drive to NYC and Boston, and a short drive to Ottawa and Montreal.
The Village Animal Clinic is a highly regarded, high-tech, well-established, and popular practice, with state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment that makes us one of the most advanced practices in this region. Unusual for this day and age, we remain a staunchly non-corporate, privately owned practice with an excellent reputation, with clients coming from as far away as 1.5 hours away due to our multispecies expertise. Our newly-constructed hospital is well-equipped with in-house hematology, chemistry, coagulation testing, ultrasound, digital radiology, (including dental,) high-speed dental equipment, endoscopy, class IV therapeutic laser, new surgical monitoring equipment, tonopen testing, and paperless medical records. All ultrasound images and radiographs are read by board-certified radiologists. We are the only practice in the area that qualifies as “feline-friendly,” with separate waiting rooms for dogs and for all other species (cats, pocket pets, birds, reptiles) who do not appreciate unwanted and boisterous canine attention. Our support staff is superb, consisting of licensed technicians and certified veterinary assistants, allowing our four veterinarians to practice more effectively. All of our doctors and many of our staff have been certified "fear free". A board-certified surgeon visits our practice weekly, allowing our patients to receive the best surgical care, and a local specialty practice (only 15 minutes away) allows for quick referral to all major areas of expertise on an as-needed basis. After-hours emergencies are handled by our local emergency clinic, so no late night or on-call hours are necessary, and a 4 day work week allows our veterinarians the critically important “quality of life.”
We offer generous compensation (in the top 95% of the U.S.) with bonus compensation based upon production. We also have superb benefits, including medical and dental insurance, life insurance, vision insurance, paid vacation, paid holidays, Simple IRA plans, continuing education allowance, payment of AVMA and NYSVMA dues, and compensation for licensing and liability fees. A sign on bonus and relocation expenses included. Since we are the Capital District’s primary exotic animal hospital, our ideal candidate should have an interest in exotic animal medicine and surgery, but this is not mandatory. The candidate should also possess excellent communication skills, be a team player, have an outgoing personality, and–above all—be compassionate. Partnership opportunities exist for the right person.
New graduates are welcomed and encouraged to apply: we would be happy to mentor and coach the right person.
