Department/College Description RITs Marketing and Communications Division (M&C) is the provider of integrated marketing and communications assets for the university. The Creative Production Services Team within M&C provides video and event support for our university partners.
Detailed Job Description Reporting to the Assistant Director of Creative Video Productions, the Producer/Director/Editor within the Creative Production Services team is responsible for producing, directing, and editing video/media projects for the university and its external clients including instructional, promotional and live-switched projects. They will be responsible for developing creative concepts and managing technical execution of project parameters within client budget. They will supervise production and technical student and freelance staff, including assigning duties and assessing performance. The Producer/Director/Editor will also be responsible for maintaining consistent style and standards for the Division of Marketing and Communications and will act as an arbiter of recorded materials developed by or for marketing and marketing purposes. They have primary responsibility for ensuring cohesion and consistency of brand messaging, and bringing it to life through the use of engaging content aimed at different audience groups.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to keeping apprised of emerging digital technologies, creative storytelling techniques, and media distribution methods (social, streaming media, compression, etc.) pertaining to video and multimedia production. They will obtain training/certifications in emerging technology applications as needed and recommend new technologies, equipment, and production resources so as to keep the facility up-to-date in support of our customers' various needs.
The person in this position is responsible for managing all phases of pre-production, production, and post-production, including editing, finishing, animation, computer graphics development, ADA compliance, and product delivery through closeout of project and assessment of customer satisfaction. He/she will develop, implement, and maintain workflows, editing, and archiving procedures.
The successful candidate will be committed to building positive working relationships with our clients/partners across the university, with vendors, and with external clients and ensure proactive communication and follow-up with clients throughout all phases of production. They will also demonstrate a commitment to work collaboratively with colleagues across the Division of Marketing and Communications - University Communications, University Web Services, University Creative Writing and Design Services, and University Marketing and Branding teams.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Flexibility in work schedules are required.
5+ years of experience with professional format video and audio equipment and media
3+ years of experience with non-linear digital editing
Ability to create and/or follow scripted material
Must have a portfolio of creative work which demonstrates rich technical expertise
This position requires an individual who thrives in an exciting environment that demands the ability to multi-task/work on multiple projects simultaneously. It is imperative to be attentive to project deadlines. The successful candidate will possess excellent customer service skills, including exemplary written and verbal communication.
PREFERRED: 3+ years of directing multi-camera live television programs
