| Location: Hyde Park Campus Job Description: - Collaborates with instructors on the pedagogical design and development of curriculum content by identifying existing content and developing a strategy to convert it into an online or blended environment.
- Consult with faculty to elicit their instructional goals and intended outcomes in order to offer pragmatic options for course or academic-related activity development and design.
- Ability to draft storyboards, coordinate video shoots, or write scenarios, as faculty navigate and implement new learning activities. Comfortable giving faculty feedback related to these items, as necessary.
- Promote new learning technologies, delivery strategies, and pedagogy options to faculty.
- Works with faculty to recommend, develop, and implement learning assessments and testing strategies. Provides ongoing feedback and identifies opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborates with faculty on the adoption of appropriate learning technologies to advance educational goals.
- Works with faculty to experiment with emerging instructional technologies and teaching methodologies.
- Works with faculty in developing and implementing evaluation criteria and success metrics for online and hybrid courses.
- Investigates innovative uses of technology in teaching and learning to promote the use of specialized applications, equipment, and services, including face-to-face interaction as well as group, seminar, and online interaction.
- Develops resources and services, including tailored training programs, documentation, online reference materials, learning modules, and seminars ranging from basic online course management skills to the advanced application of technology in teaching.
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of instructional design research, principles and emerging applications of instructional design theories and instructional technology applications. Maintains professional expertise in online teaching and learning, electronic pedagogy, and technology-based course delivery, including: learning management systems (LMS), multimedia and instructional course software, adaptive learning tools, multimedia presentation, web conferencing, and classroom technologies.
- Manages the Learning Platform Technologist. Provides guidance to the Technologist while collaborating with the Booth Instructional Design team on projects and initiatives.
- Monitors trends, identifies opportunities, and explores innovative solutions to teaching and learning problems. Maintains a network of relationships with colleagues across campus, other institutions, and professional affiliations on an ongoing basis.
- Utilizes deep specialized knowledge to develop teaching materials and offer writing courses and workshops tailored to the specific needs of the requesting unit. May also provide confidential individual consultations about writing and/or writing pedagogy.
- Interprets and reviews course evaluations as well as Writing Program practices in mentoring, technology, and supervision. Compares current practices with those of peer institutions, and develops improvements in program practices.
- Performs other related work as needed.
Preferred Qualifications Education: - Master's degree or PhD in instructional design, instructional technology or related field.
Experience: - A minimum of three years of professional work experience in an instructional design/development position, or relevant experience.
- Two years of experience developing online and hybrid courses.
- Working with faculty in a higher education environment.
- Comfortable interacting with and using consultative skills with a diverse group of faculty.
- Hybrid and online instructional design in higher education.
- Learning Management System (LMS) and other instructional technologies to further the teaching and learning processes (Canvas, Coursera and NovoEd).
- At least two years of experience creating documentation and delivering workshops to faculty in the use of educational technologies.Â
- Previous experience writing and developing instructional materials.
- Previous management experience.
Preferred Competencies - High level of proficiency in adult/online learning theory and principles and the ability to teach this information to others.
- Expertise with one or more digital authoring tools (Camtasia, Captivate, Knowbly, Articulate).
- Expertise in Canvas educational platforms.
- Expertise in web conferencing software (WebEx, Zoom).
- Comfortable and skilled communicating with a non-technical audience.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Work independently and as a member of a team, to take initiative, and adapt to dynamic and ever-changing environments.
- Good organizational skills and high attention to details.
- Has flexible work schedule with availability to work some evenings and weekends.
- Some limited international travel to Boothâ™s global locations.Â
