The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) School of Pharmacy has an opening for a Program Specialist to work with their PATIENTS Program. The PATIENTS Program is an interdisciplinary research team of community partners and researchers housed at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy that works to change the way we think about research by creating a path for health equity in West Baltimore. The program uses development of quality measures, assessment methods, and patient reported outcome measures.
The PATIENTS Program Specialist uses established principles and best practices of program and project management to coordinate the administration of projects and assignments within the PATIENTS Program including planning, organizing, evaluating project deliverables and conducts observational studies investigating health and its various effects on outcomes.

Assist in the planning and implementation of new or revised projects, procedures, practices and organization. Manage and oversee assigned projects. Manage multiple projects simultaneously and supports senior staff in more complex projects.
Participate in grant-related meetings with the principal investigator, research manager, and other members of the research team to gain a better understanding of protocol issues and project developments. Take meeting minutes, deliver communications with primary investigators and key personnel, track milestones and deliverables.
Assure compliance with protocol and regulatory requirements; collecting, recording and maintaining data and source documentation; recruiting and enrolling patients; and meeting enrollment projections within study-specified times.
Support recruitment activities within the community by identifying, locating, interviewing, and screening individuals who may be appropriate for program outreach and research activities. Maintain community engagement database and prepare written reports of outreach contacts and activities.
Assist with the planning, organizing, and implementations of community special events such as health fairs, workshops, etc.
Support qualitative interviews and focus groups for PATIENTS activities. Collect, compile, and organize data pertinent to various ongoing projects.
Analyze, summarize, and communicate this information to appropriate officials. Coordinate the preparation of periodic reports and other information resources for projects.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Communications, Public Health and/or related field.
EXPERIENCE : Two (2) years of experience in a related field with program planning, project management or coordination, OR Consideration may be given for a unique combination of education and experience.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to operate computers and other office equipment.
Ability to write reports and maintain records.
Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
Ability to perform extensive standing and walking.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and tact.
Ability to interact with the public, health care providers, and community organizations.
Ability to maintain poise and courtesy under pressure.
