Evaluation Specialist- SOM: Office of Research Evaluation Unit- Sacramento Campus
The evaluation unit provides education and research outcome measurement and assessment for research training grants, centers, and programs, supports UC Davis Health faculty and other investigators, and provides expertise, collaboration and infrastructure for grant and contract-related evaluation activities. Program evaluations that are in the portfolio that this position supports include but are not limited to: the Clinical and Translational Science Center (CTSC), the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing, the Western Center for Agricultural Health and Safety, the Environmental Health Sciences Center, Career Development (KL2) and Training (T32) Programs, and health intervention projects.

This is an 18-month contract appointment which may be extended contingent on funding.
Responsibilities This position serves as an Evaluation Specialist for the School of Medicine Office of Research Evaluation Unit. The Evaluation Specialist performs advanced evaluation research tasks and reports to the Associate Director for the Evaluation Unit. This position is responsible for developing and implementing appropriate strategies and key metrics using widely accepted conceptual frameworks for evaluation. This individual design methodologically sophisticated evaluation plans, conducts evaluation research activities, performs analyses, presents project findings in local and national venues, and develops written reports. This position works with autonomy under minimal supervision. The position requires frequent interaction with a variety of individuals and internal and external administrative offices involved in education and research at UC Davis Health.
Program evaluation experience that includes evaluation design, implementing evaluation plans, and collecting and analyzing data.
Experience working with programs to develop a logic model and specify metrics of success.
Experience with quantitative and qualitative data collection methods, including stakeholder surveys, interviews, focus groups, and secondary data analysis.
Experience constructing and pilot testing research tools such as interview or focus group protocols and surveys.
Experience analyzing quantitative and qualitative data.
Experience reporting program progress and research results in writing.
Experience presenting information and data to a variety of audiences.
Project management experience.
Strong organizational skills to multi-task effectively.
Knowledge of Microsoft Suite.
Master's or PhD degree in social science discipline, program evaluation, or public health preferred.
Experience evaluating programs in the area of health or research education.
Experience in program evaluation of federally funded research centers.
Experience conducting data analysis with statistical software such as SPSS to produce basic descriptive statistics (e.g., frequencies, averages, cross tabulations, correlations, t-tests).
Experience co-authoring manuscripts for publication in a peer review journal.
Familiarity with qualitative data analysis software such as NVivo.
Familiarity with content management software such as FilePro.
Familiarity with web-based survey software such as Qualtrics.
Experience with IRB approval processes.
Experience working in an academic-medical organizational environment.
Special Requirements This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
