Advertised Job Summary:
Research Specialist to conduct in vivo procedures and studies of laboratory rodents (e.g., surgical techniques, behavioral analyses, administration of experimental treatments, tissue collection), and in vitro assays (ELISA, SDS-PAGE, immunoblotting, PCR, cell culture etc.) The Research Specialist will plan and record procedures using a combination of physical laboratory notebooks and digital resources. The Research Specialist will implement specific procedures under the supervision of the laboratory's Principal Investigator (PI) and will collaborate with or supervise other personnel in lab (i.e. undergraduate researchers, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows or other research-supported staff) to achieve research goals. The Research Specialist will be required to work evenings or weekends on occasion, as determined by specific project needs. The Research Specialist will be required to certify knowledge of and compliance with all federal, state and University guidelines that pertain research-associated activities in the lab and will assist the PI to ensure that other lab personnel are in compliance at all times. The Research Specialist will ensure that all lab supplies and equipment are stocked/maintained in workable order and maintain up-to-date records with respect to ordering, repair requests and payment reconciliation.

Bachelor of Science (or equivalent e.g. BA) degree in Biology, Psychology, Neuroscience, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering or similar science concentration
