The Center for Healthcare Engineering and Patient Safety (CHEPS) seeks to fill a new position of Managing Director. With more than 10 years of providing exceptional outcomes to our project partners and unique experiential learning opportunities to our students, CHEPS seeks applicants who can embrace our vision, approach, and collaborate with us to chart and implement the next 10 years. The Managing Director will work closely with the CHEPS faculty director to oversee Center projects and programs, and to develop new initiatives. This is an exceptional opportunity for a candidate to grow into the position and assume additional leadership responsibilities over time.
Coordinating Center oversight and management in support of the CHEPS vision, mission, and values
Formalizing and maintaining processes to ensure that CHEPS runs smoothly
Managing tasks of staff and students to make healthcare safer and more efficient - involving both attention to detail and handing off responsibilities to others
Mentoring and onboarding a diverse group of students from a variety of majors and backgrounds - from undergraduate to doctoral students - with leadership development and project management skills
Providing staff supervision and creating a positive culture for professional development
Stewarding financial resources and partnerships
Developing and managing new projects, funding relationships, industry partnerships, and programs
Collaborating with other ADUE, Michigan Engineering, and University of Michigan initiatives.
Master's degree in engineering or a health field
5+ years of experience in full-cycle program and project management
2+ years of experience managing staff
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Appreciation for CHEPS family focus (warmth, enthusiasm, humor, commitment to students)
Organized and detail oriented
Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Highly collaborative and excited to learn new things
