Responsibilities The UC Davis Health Data Provisioning Core (DPC) exists to support the majority of health data analysis needs at UCDH though the provisioning of well-characterized health-related data and derived information to data requestors. The mission of the DPC is 1) to develop best practices in clinical informatics to guide the acquisition, transmission, aggregation, sematic curation, characterization, protection, and delivery of health data, and 2) to enable the learning healthcare system through generation of reusable enterprise data assets and collaborative partnerships between users of data and UCDH Information Technology.
The Data Curation Project Manager will lead and manage data acquisition, curation, and validation initiatives with the Departments of Pharmacy and Laboratory Medicine. In addition to typical project management activities, the Project Manager must have extensive experience in clinical informatics, data analysis, and healthcare concepts (content knowledge of pharmacy and/or laboratory medicine data a plus). This position will interact with all levels of IT management and staff and will work with a high degree of independence and decision-making. They will lead the implementation of projects working with a dedicated domain-specific technical analyst, clinical and academic system subject matter experts, and other IT teams as needed. This includes participating in all aspects of planning, design, implementation and data delivery from requirements gathering, analysis and design, validation and quality assurance, through deployment and support of various enterprise level curated data assets.
Bachelor degree or equivalent in health informatics, healthcare administration, or related field
Minimum 3 years experience as Project Manager of projects related to secondary use of clinical data (informatics, analytics, data science)
Extensive project planning, project leadership and analysis experience
Demonstrated application of project management principles and tools/templates to healthcare analytics projects
Strong analytical skills to assess data and project deliverables prior to go-live
Demonstrated ability to conduct resource planning for multiple simultaneous projects, manage multiple activities and prioritize tasks
Ability to work independently, set priorities, organize work, and meet deadlines
Strong attention to detail
Exceptional interpersonal skills; able to work effectively with a wide variety of people at all levels of the organization (technical and business)
Excellent writing skills; comfortable making presentations to senior leadership
Demonstrated ability to influence clinical and technical professionals to accomplish project goals and objectives
Experience in dealing with highly confidential, secured, and financial matters; practical application of HIPAA and privacy rules a plus
Knowledge of technology-related initiatives and an understanding of impact to the organization of such initiatives
Relevant PM Certification or educations (PMP or equivalent)
Master's degree or equivalent experience in Health Informatics, Public Health, or Healthcare Administration
Hands-on experience with systems and tools typically used in healthcare analytics projects: medical records/clinical data systems, Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) applications, Structured Query Language (SQL), Python, Tableau, etc.
Familiarity with data governance and data stewardship principles and practices
Must be able to work extra hours (nights and weekends) if important development is behind schedule or the correction of problems with operational systems is considered critical. Position may require travel for training and conference attendance.
