Job Description As Counsel within Moody's Corporation (MCO), this role presents an opportunity for you as a qualified lawyer to provide business-critical legal services to Vigeo Eiris , an important and growing subsidiary of MCO.
Vigeo Eiris is an international agency based on France t hat provid es ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) research and services to investors and private and public organisations. It reviews risks and assesses the level of integration of sustainability factors into the strategy and operations of organisations.
As a member of the MCO Legal Department, this position will be based in France (Paris) or the UK (London), and will report into New York.
The primary function of this role is to provide legal support for VE's Contracting processes, focusing on sales transactions in both a French and International Context. You may also assist with local vendor contracts, mergers and acquisitions and general corporate matters. As needed, you may also provide legal support to other parts of Moody's ESG Solutions Group.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Draft and negotiate a variety of complex commercial and technology agreements relating the Vigeo Eiris's ESG rating activity, including data subscriptions agreements, professional services agreements, and strategic partnership agreements
Develop and maintain expertise in the French law and industry standards relating to data use and analytics, including privacy, data security, intellectual property and content development & distribution
Development of standard forms and contracting guidelines for your business group
Multi-national contract negotiations (primarily, France and UK)
Qualifications Experience :
5+ years of experience negotiating complex commercial and technology/IP transactions
Experience working in fast-paced sales environment would be useful
Experience working in an international environment / multi-lingual is a plus
Graduate of law school
Licensed to practice law in France
Knowledge of French and European law, including civil code crossing multiple geographies
Knowledge of English or American law is a plus
Fluency in French and English, including excellent level of writing
Ability to listen, to communicate, to be diplomatic, to work in a team
Ability to quickly understand interlocutors needs and translate them into legal recommendations and respond positively to the issues to be resolved
Ability to operate independently and make decisions with minimal supervision
Excellent administration, project management and document management skills
Ability to present a positive image of the Moody's Legal Department
