Manages the daily operations and the staff of the Dental Imaging Technicians by monitoring and coordinating the workload, approving time and leave, hiring, training and evaluating the staff; provides assistance in all areas of radiology for the College of Dentistry Radiology Clinic; takes intra- and extra-oral radiographs; provides assistance to students, manages patient flow through clinic; orders and maintains supplies and computerized patient records, maintains a supply of sterilized instruments, imports and exports digital radiographs. Responsibilities also include checking in patients, coordinating/gathering all documentation related to the patient chart, overseeing accurate completion of necessary forms, accurately entering new patient demographics and insurance information into axiUm in a timely fashion, taking incoming patient calls, scheduling appointments with patients, and assisting with patient check-out; maintains a respectful and supportive environment for the patients, students, staff and faculty; maintain quality assurance and infection control in the radiology clinic; evaluate and inspect the Oral Radiology equipment to ensure adequate operation and to report and follow-up deficiencies to the clinic/program director.
Monday through Friday; hours varies between starting at 7:00 a.m. and ending at 5:00 p.m. Occasional weekends and evenings required.
This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check and drug and alcohol screening.
This position must have dexterity in the fingers and be able to use both hands, and the ability to manipulate instruments, materials, and operate dental equipment.
Six months of experience (six courses) in dental office practices and procedures; six months of experience (six courses) in dental operatory practices and procedures; six months of experience (six courses) in care of dental equipment; six months of experience (six courses) in dental clinic procedures; six months of experience (six courses) in expanded dental duty procedures; six months of experience (six courses) in forehand assisting techniques; three months of experience (three courses) in supervision, may be required for some positions.
Must pass health standards and requirements prescribed by law prior to appointment (e.g. hepatitis vaccination series and TB tests). Must be registered with the Ohio Dental Board as a Dental Assistant.
3-5 years of related experience; 3-5 years of supervisory experience; ability to cooperate with and lead co-workers to maintain a friendly and professional atmosphere, knowledge of technique skills with sensors/digital radiology x-ray principles and techniques along with cone beam technology/powershare, safety/radiation practices and procedures; critical thinking and problem solving abilities; experience ordering supplies and reconciliation of monthly expenses; understand technical instructions and mechanical procedures, ability bend, reach, stretch, squat, twist, lift up to 25 lbs. and stand for long duration of time, maintain accurate records; ability to be able to train staff in the use of x-ray equipment; strong computer skills. Associate degree preferred.
Target Salary: $20.00 - $24.00 Hourly
