Responsibilities This position is within the Enterprise Applications department and may work on IT projects associated with Financial, Human Resources, Identity Access Management, Payroll, Supply Chain and other administrative functions. This position is responsible for project planning and management, business and systems analysis, project budgeting, implementation and on-going management of key IT initiatives.
This position will interact with all levels of IT management and staff and will work with a high degree of independence and decision-making. The position will lead the implementation of projects working with cross functional teams, and subject matter experts throughout the delivery process. This includes all aspects of systems implementation from requirements gathering, analysis and design, configuration and test, through deployment and support of various systems. Highly effective leadership and communication skills to diverse audiences are essential. May be required to occasionally with notice work outside traditional business hours to meet critical needs of the Information Technology division.
Experienced technical leader with a high degree of knowledge in the field of IT, and recognized expertise as a Project Manager. Ability to effectively analyze unique issues/problems without precedent and/or structure and problem solve collaboratively. This position will manage projects and programs that will require the ability to plan, analyze, implement, oversee, and maintain multiple projects simultaneously. The position requires formulating strategies and administering policies, processes, and resources; functions with a high degree of autonomy.
Applies advanced technical project management frameworks and methods for campus, health campus, or Office of the President objectives to resolve highly complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. The project manager determines methods, techniques and evaluation criteria to obtain results; and manages projects of broad and diverse scope, size, impact, budget and/or project team size, with considerable impact to the organization.
Bachelor degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.
Extensive project planning, leadership and analysis experience with significant advanced experience as a Project Manager leading large scale IT projects independently is required.
Ability to manage and lead diverse groups, peers, vendors and a wide variety of technical and non-technical staff at all levels in a highly matrix environment to meet project milestones and schedules.
Understands how projects relate to other business strategies and initiatives.
Understands the cost impact of projects, project tracking tools and metrics.
Ability to work independently, set priorities, organizes work, and meet deadlines.
Ability to exercise independent judgment and personal initiative, and accept responsibility for decision and actions.
Ability to create and manage time schedules, manages multiple activities and priorities, and maintains productivity.
Demonstrated capacity to anticipate obstacles and plan for contingencies.
Skills to analyze complex information or problems in an objective manner and derives logical conclusions to provide a sound basis for establishing priorities, selecting appropriate courses of action for pursuit or recommendations to others, and to resolve.
Excellent communicator; comfortable and effective in opening channels of communication, listening to others, and cultivating a healthy, productive, and ongoing dialogue.
Ability to communicate with all levels within and outside of IT, include application and technology vendors.
Demonstrated effective writing skills including the ability to analzye data from multiple sources, conduct research, perform analysis of diverse information, and prpare and present meaningful reports and briefs.
Sound understanding of typical vendor provided application agreements for on-going support, maintenance updates, application upgrades, and end-of-product support.
Ability to recognize the need for and maintain security of confidential information; exercise judgment, tact, and discretion in handling sensitive or confidential information or situations.
Relevant PM Certification or education (PMP or equivalent) preferred.
Ability to fulfill project manager and project analyst roles concurrently.
Detailed knowledge of Microsoft Project or other project management tools.
Strong foundational knowledge of user applications and hardware technologies (servers, storage, databases, etc).
Academic institution or large integrated health system experience preferred.
Experience with Financial, Human Resources, Supply Chain and Administrative applications preferred.
Experience with integrated multi-vendor applications preferred.
Experience leading projects with contractors/consultants preferred.
Experience with system interfaces is preferred.
Experience with Request For Proposals (RFPs) is preferred.
Working knowledge of technology-related initiatives and an understanding of impact to the organization of such initiatives
Knowledge and understanding of University policies and procedures is preferred.
Must pass a background investigation.
