Serving in this front-line role, the Advancement Associate will play a critical role in the Advancement Office in elevating Prep’s overall revenue stream through fundraising and community initiatives. S/he will work in partnership with the Director of Advancement to develop strategic initiatives associated with the school’s Annual Fund, communication platforms, events, and alumni relations.
The model candidate is an energetic and experienced fundraiser with expertise in relationship management - internally with staff and colleagues and externally with donors and volunteers. S/he will have the capacity to think creatively and possess excellent management and organizational skills. Prior experience working or being in an independent school environment is ideal. Occasional evening and weekend work is required.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in developing a robust culture of philanthropy through our Prep community through cultivation, stewardship, and solicitation of our constituents.
Develop and implement, with the Director of Advancement, an annual fund development plan, including goals, objectives, and tasks.
Actively identify, cultivate, and solicit Annual Fund donors.
Coordinate Annual Fund appeals and other fundraising collateral for consistent branding and messaging.
Develop and implement fundraising campaigns and stewardship via social media and videos.
Help plan and manage annual recognition events and stewardship opportunities.
Assist in managing our alumni program.
Assist in the planning, organization, correspondence, and execution of events of the Advancement Office.
Participate in interdepartmental initiatives and projects as needed as a member of the Advancement Office.
Qualifications and Skills Required for Position:
Strategic and detailed planner who understand the role of advancement in an academic institution or non-profit organization.
Must be able to work collegially and have the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations, in support of the school’s mission.
Successful experience in fundraising, preferably at an independent school, with a track record of success.
Ability to develop and implement fundraising campaigns and stewardship via social media and videos a plus.
Must be an independent and strategic thinker capable of understanding the full scope of projects while seeing individual tasks through to completion.
Proven ability to build solid and effective working relationships with internal and external constituents.
Knowledge of event software, One Cause and/or Greater Giving strongly preferred.
Strong planning skills, with familiarity with event coordination.
Strong project management skills and an ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage deadlines with multiple projects/activities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Willingness to be part of a team and contribute ideas and process improvements.
Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with co-workers, donors, alumni, and other potential prospects in a positive, cooperative, and courteous manner.
Ability to maintain confidentiality as required.
Experience working with volunteers and donors.
Excellent computer skills; proficiency in GoogleApps including Gmail, GoogleDocs, Google Calendar.
Experience with Senior Systems is a plus.
